Anyone stIll actively collectIng gold bar/coin? I had stopped for now since tHe gold prIce shoot up 🤣
Abit late to the game. But since keeping it for kid until I croak, getting it now would be better.
No point timing the market if you are in for the long term.

I am talking 30yrs.

Collectors tend to keep a bit of both. Coins are more fungible and transportable than bullion bars. And they are nicer to look at.

The premium is almost always a floating one and is a factor of the spot price. As long as you don’t handle your coins too much, they should not lose you money as long as spot is up.

Gold is not too bad to handle. Don’t ever handle silver. The stuff tarnishes in a blink.
But silver coins, bullions and kilobars are usually sealed in a package no?

Thinking of having a mix.

I bought gold ETF with my cpf OA because that is the only approved gold investment using OA. Another reason, keeping some physicals allow you to look at it and appreciates it. Also heard that when all papers default, it is only the physicals in hand counts.
Aiya the standard, if you dont hold it, you dont pwn it.

Tha

thats rather extreme.. don’t you think. ? Pamp gold bars can be authenticated by serial number and a scan via phone apps on the bar. If selling to retailers, I think the risk is the same. Whereas bullion shops will have the capability to easily check the authenticity. The main difference is one will likely lose the premium of a bullion coin during a major crisis
During a crisis and if the internet is down, buyers will be very skeptical as there are so many high-quality indistinguishable Pamp fakes.

I have also bought many fake gold coins, so far they are easily identified as fakes. I have consulted ex-Singapore Mint staff on how to identify fake gold coins and they are much easier to spot.

By any chance is there a reason why you chose gold coins and not bars?

I bought bars due to their lower cost but seems like gold coins are more valued because they can be collectibles And are harder to fake. I was intending to collect all zodiac of gold bar and use it as fengshui lol.

But I suppose if you have the test machine, it's easy to tell if a 10gram/1oz gold bar is fake.

Aren't 1 oz gold coins cheaper than 1 oz gold bars at the bullion shops?

Gold coin will be more ex than gold cast bar
I look at the prices on Bullionstar now and the pricing for 1oz is:

Perth Mint Gold Bullion Bars 1oz (cast)
S$5,704.74

Austrian Gold Philharmonic Bullion Coins 1oz
S$5,698.61

Where are you getting quotes for lower priced gold cast bar. I'm not trying to argue, but looking for better lobang.

prefer gold bar over gold coins... gold coins harder to sell due to the design (unless limited edition)

Different refinery different prices, different bullion shops also different prices. Just see which lbma refinery and shop offer the cheapest bar/coin and just get those.
