Just came back from JB, was roaming on ZYM. How come I can’t select other roaming partner? The only option is automatic and auto connect to MY MAXIS, can’t choose digi or anything else also. This is on iPhone 17 Pro with ZYM 5G SA SIM card.
I also have the same problem, when I switch to manual, no other telco appears. It will always lock to celcom digi.
Not sure if i’s due to switching to the 5G SA SIM card, last time don’t have this issue.

Another finding, when come back to SG, if I switch to manual, within seconds, ZYM, M1, Starhub, Simba, will appear for selection. But when in Malaysia when switch to manual, nothing appears.

@keenklee

Please help as well when you get the chance to look at your TP-Link Deco X50-5G settings for the APN and Authentification type for your Singtel heya (now Singtel hi! 4G postpaid plan). Thanks.

IMHO.
NO settings on Deco app and web interface for x50-5g

I see. Thanks for the info. That basically means "automatic" which is actually the better one for the SIM Only plans in Singapore.

IMHO.
I found some settings related to the mobile network in the Deco App under "INTERNET".
I don't have the Singtel Hi! 4G information but for Singtel 5G NSA ( Zym )

PDP Type - IPv4 and IPv6
APN Type - Static
APN - e-ideas or hi-card
Authentication Type - CHAP

There are other settings like Band (Auto), Cell Lock, Carrier (auto). My guess is that i can choose a specific band.

perhaps msia too many network to search haha
but i think this is an iphone bug, u can try click back after you click manual for several times, keep repeating until you see the telco list to choose appear.

Other than lack of eSIM option, any Zym users bothered by the two month minimum subscription period?

I tend to think it is not a real issue.

For SIM Only plans with 12 months contract, you of course need to finish the contract before porting out.

Some no-contract SIM Only plans also have certain limitation when porting out, you need to take note.

Other than the following, any other things to take note for porting out?

1. SIMBA
https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/sections/4416126079769-Porting
https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/articles/5020380241561-Is-there-a-fee-when-I-port-out-from-SIMBA

An activation fee of $30 is chargeable for port-out within 30 days of plan activation.
Porting out of lucky number? Please refer to the terms and conditions here.

2. Zym
https://zym.sg/faq/port-in/
You can terminate your plan and port out your number after 2 months, as per our Terms and Conditions (Minimal subscription for a non-contract plan is 2-month).

3. Circles.Life -- a bit strange of the port-out date (needs clarifications)

https://circlesasiasupport.zendesk....785689-How-to-port-out-my-Circles-Life-number

Example:
If your port-out is completed on January 22, 2021, your account will be terminated on January 31, 2021, and your line will no longer be active from the following month.

https://circlesasiasupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003837793-What-does-No-contract-mean

Circle Life straight away charged you two months of subscription fee upon sign up.
You are free to go after the minimum period, no penalty.

ZYM has updated its 5G+ FAQ:

According to IMDA’s coverage targets, the two initial nationwide 5G SA networks are required to achieve 95% outdoor coverage by the end of Q1 2026 (for Singtel). This coverage applies to all Singtel MVNOs, including ZYM Mobile.

Don't sound conclusive.. meaning ST cannot achieve 95%? coverage? I thought ST MNO already launched their SA plans for a few months

Good update.

Again this is a "target", just like the previous 31-Dec-2025 date. But I hope this time they can achieve it.

5G SA network uses 5G Radio Access Network and 5G Core Network.

5G NSA network uses 5G Radio Access Network and 4G Core Network.

Singtel is probably meeting the 95% coverage target for the Radio Access Network but may not be ready on the 5G Core Network side (need to upgrade).

Zym 5G+ FAQ:
Basically Singtel's 5G+ means 5G SA plus 700 MHz band (better coverage). 700MHz band is already deployed for both 5G and 4G connection for Singtel networks (Singtel, Gomo, heya, Singtel hi!, Zym, Zero1, VIVIFI and CMLink). 5G SA deployment is the next major upgrade.
https://zym.sg/faq/zym-5g/

1. About 5G NSA closure
Coverage Targets: IMDA set regulatory targets for the two initial nationwide 5G SA networks to achieve 95% outdoor coverage by the end of Q1 2026 (for Singtel). That includes all Singtel MVNO, such as ZYM Mobile.

2. Tell me about ZYM 5G+ (5G SA network)

🛜 5G Standalone (5G SA), also known as 5G+, is the final, dedicated architecture for 5G.

Previously, the initial 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) networks relied on the existing 4G core network for control (like the network's main computer). 5G SA completely separates from 4G by using a new, dedicated 5G Core (5GC). It's this dedicated 5G infrastructure (sometimes called "True 5G") that finally unlocks all the advanced features of the technology.

🛜 5G+ network deploys the 700 MHz spectrum. This low-band frequency significantly improves coverage in high-rise buildings, underground areas (like MRT tunnels), and remote regions, increasing signal strength by up to 40% in challenging locations.

...

5. Must I use a 5G SIM card to enjoy 5G+?
Yes, upgrading to a true 5G SIM card is required to fully access and benefit from 5G+ in Singapore.

While your current 5G SIM works with the initial 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network (which is still anchored to the 4G core), the new 5G+ is built on the advanced 5G Standalone (SA) architecture with a completely new, dedicated core network.

✅ The specialized 5G SIM is essential because it holds the necessary security credentials and network features to properly register onto the new 5G SA core.

✅ The upgrade ensures you can unlock the full potential of 5G+, including game-changing features like ultra-low latency, network slicing, and maximum speeds.

...

10. I am currently on a 5G plan, what happen if I do not switch to a a true 5G SIM card?
🛜 If you are currently on a 5G plan, please note that you MUST exchange your SIM card for a true 5G SIM to maintain 5G network access.

This is due to an IMDA REGULATION that requires the older 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network to be ceased islandwide by Q1 2026.

What this means for you:

✅ If you are on a 5G plan, your current SIM card is only compatible with the retiring NSA network. To connect to the permanent, advanced 5G+ (Standalone) network, you need the new 5G SIM, which holds the necessary credentials. Failure to upgrade the SIM will result in a fall-back to 4G service.

...

13. What is Network Slicing and how does it relate to ZYM 5G+?
🛜 Network slicing is a key feature of 5G SA. It allows the network to be logically divided into dedicated "slices" tailored for specific needs.

Though such features are not enabled in ZYM yet.

Maybe Zym people are monitoring this forum. :ROFLMAO:

They need to update the following FAQ.
1) iPhone -- use apps like nperf
2) Android -- use apps like nperf or NetMonitor.

https://zym.sg/faq/zym-5g/
9. How do I know if I am on a 5G+ network?
⭐ Using an app like NetMonster may confirm that you're on 5G+ (5G SA) or 5G (NSA) network.

they are indeed reading it. Last time, we asked for something that they gave new users to existing users, in the end they gave it.

Now that i ported to Zero1, i still miss their app UI, and hope they can have promo to lure back former customers like me and @kelvinti
