Zym 5G+ FAQ:
Basically Singtel's 5G+ means 5G SA plus 700 MHz band (better coverage). 700MHz band is already deployed for both 5G and 4G connection for Singtel networks (Singtel, Gomo, heya, Singtel hi!, Zym, Zero1, VIVIFI and CMLink). 5G SA deployment is the next major upgrade.

1. About 5G NSA closure
Coverage Targets: IMDA set regulatory targets for the two initial nationwide 5G SA networks to achieve 95% outdoor coverage by the end of Q1 2026 (for Singtel). That includes all Singtel MVNO, such as ZYM Mobile.
2. Tell me about ZYM 5G+ (5G SA network)
🛜 5G Standalone (5G SA), also known as 5G+, is the final, dedicated architecture for 5G.
Previously, the initial 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) networks relied on the existing 4G core network for control (like the network's main computer). 5G SA completely separates from 4G by using a new, dedicated 5G Core (5GC). It's this dedicated 5G infrastructure (sometimes called "True 5G") that finally unlocks all the advanced features of the technology.
🛜 5G+ network deploys the 700 MHz spectrum. This low-band frequency significantly improves coverage in high-rise buildings, underground areas (like MRT tunnels), and remote regions, increasing signal strength by up to 40% in challenging locations.

5. Must I use a 5G SIM card to enjoy 5G+?
Yes, upgrading to a true 5G SIM card is required to fully access and benefit from 5G+ in Singapore.
While your current 5G SIM works with the initial 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network (which is still anchored to the 4G core), the new 5G+ is built on the advanced 5G Standalone (SA) architecture with a completely new, dedicated core network.

The specialized 5G SIM is essential because it holds the necessary security credentials and network features to properly register onto the new 5G SA core.

The upgrade ensures you can unlock the full potential of 5G+, including game-changing features like ultra-low latency, network slicing, and maximum speeds.

10. I am currently on a 5G plan, what happen if I do not switch to a a true 5G SIM card?
🛜 If you are currently on a 5G plan, please note that you MUST exchange your SIM card for a true 5G SIM to maintain 5G network access.
This is due to an IMDA REGULATION that requires the older 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network to be ceased islandwide by Q1 2026.
What this means for you:

If you are on a 5G plan, your current SIM card is only compatible with the retiring NSA network. To connect to the permanent, advanced 5G+ (Standalone) network, you need the new 5G SIM, which holds the necessary credentials. Failure to upgrade the SIM will result in a fall-back to 4G service.

13. What is Network Slicing and how does it relate to ZYM 5G+?
🛜 Network slicing is a key feature of 5G SA. It allows the network to be logically divided into dedicated "slices" tailored for specific needs.
Though such features are not enabled in ZYM yet.
