i only use free dns at home router.. mobile don't need too much specifics

nextdns.io is free de. I use it on all my devices.

Either way should be okay on the mobile.

I use Cloudflare Family DNS (1.1.1.3) and Quad9 DNS on the home router (virtual OpenWRT router on a mini PC, DNS over HTTPS, with OpenWRT adblock-fast package). Previously I was using Adguard Home DNS or Pi-Hole (running as a container) with OpenWRT router and Asus Router.

But on the mobile side, I just use the default DNS from the mobile provider. Only occasionally I will use Cloudflare Warp client or WireGuard client on the mobile phone (WireGuard Sever on the home router).

🚀 Great News! Your 5G plan just got even better! ✈️
You have previously voted, and here's the surprise we have installed for you. Instead of just one destination, we are giving you MORE.

Lucky Eight Plan: Now with China & Korea!
Triple Eight Plan: Now with China, Korea & Japan!
These destinations are added on top of your existing APAC roaming data (28GB for Lucky Eight, 36GB for Triple Eight) for Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan, absolutely FREE!

Just turn on roaming & stay connected easily! Travel worry free with eight!
We got you covered! 🌏

I have been using pi-hole for quite awhile, but always have some issue as it was super aggressive. Lazy to go back to change my blocklist. But it works well to block many things. I sometimes still use it over Tailscale.

Without the upgrade eight 5G plan is already better than giga 5G plan in terms of roaming benefits. Now the gap is even bigger.

Let's see how StarHub will enhance giga or let it slowly die.

Singtel Gomo is also lagging behind other SingTel MVNOs when it comes to roaming benefits, even though it may provide more roaming locations.

Seeing how Singtel MVNO is able to give 50GB JP KR AU for new port ins last month, i think mvnos including eight can offer more. They just waiting for simba to react. Simba have been very quiet since the $60 top-up fiasco
The MVNOs war now is base on roaming data allocations .. nothing much they can add .. apart IDD call minutes i can think of

Technically Singtel MVNOs can enhance roaming voice support (free roaming voice if possible, or at least reduce the price). That is one of the main advantages of eight and SIMBA. But without the help from Singtel, I guess they cannot do much.

The exception is CMLink which may have the capability to do something about it but choose not to do it as of now.

Give cheaper plan lah, $1 plan kym cuz moi don't use much. Even the senior $5 plan like excessive sia

This is probably tough as there will be some base line cost.

Right now three tiers of low cost plans.
1) S$5 senior plans, usually only 4G (SIMBA 5G is kind of same as 4G from other providers).

2) S$7 to S$10 4G plans (some 4G plans may provide free limited duration 5G trial)

3) S$12 to S$15 5G plan (M1 Maxx at S$12)

Tough to reduce the pricing of #1 and #2.

There is a possibility that #3 may have the potential to move towards S$12 or even S$10 for SingTel MVNOs and eight. M1 Maxx used to offer 5G plan at S$10 but removed it recently for new customers.

But there is another possibility that no more price drops and the monthly subscription price will actually go up for #2 after M1/SIMBA merger.

With more SingTel/Starhub MVNO adding new data roaming countries or more roaming data to their plans, some plans are even cheaper than GOMO and Giga, these 2 sub-brand MVNO will need to up their game soon, still locking to 5 nations roaming for APAC region is starting to lose the steam.

eight add more roaming countries and roaming data so hope the rest is feeling the stress and need to up the game, get the ball rolling again, the rest of the MVNO plan have been so stagnant for a few months.

I feel that giga and gomo have been quite quiet and not really responsive to competition. Their time might be up soon.

I have a feeling they might sunset giga soon and transfer it's customers to eight. While gomo may transfer to Singtel hi! under one sub-brand.

Relics that were forcefully created by our beloved traffic lights during the MVNO craze in 2018/2019 in an attempt to win back lost market shares. Won't be surprised if they died.
Meanwhile, the grandfather of all MVNO Circles.Life still hanging on, by saying all grandfather stories and making people go in circles.
