The latter, I won't be able to connect to their local partners' network for calls and smses if i switch off even though no intention to use their data roaming. Phones side disabled data roaming on the sim.
I see.

that's strange. data roaming and voice roaming should really be separate features then won't have such problems...

Actually if no changes, in the past we usually allow to recontract in the 21st month.

If you are within the period, just try. If unsuccessful, try the following months or later, the earlier u recontract, the earlier u save.

I'm on sim only previously. No idea, I got the email to recon to the $20 offer. Since there was no harm in trying out the $15 link I went ahead and it got through.

That said, 2 or 3 years ago it wasn't that straightforward for me, I wasn't targeted for any offer and could only recon at a promo rate after my contract ended.

My contract also is expiring next month.

I was about to consider other cheaper 4G SIM only plan. But I decided to try this.

Voice Roaming charges can be a lot for Singtel and ST MVNOs and there are multiple discussions on how to avoid the charges in this forum.

For Singtel, if you are really concerned, there is an option to buy roaming voice/sms add-on.

Most of the users will not get charges if they ignore the incoming calls but there are reported exceptions. Same for rejecting the call, in many cases there will not be charges but there are exceptions as well.

Singtel roaming terms and conditions mentions that rejecting the call may incur charges, but in reality many report no charges as well. So it may depend on the network.

Interestingly it mentions that US/Canada operators will charge after 30 seconds of ringing. So for those two countries, better to reject the call.

The following Singtel Terms and Conditions may be worth reading.
