Woman cancelling Simba contract after grandma's death can't get $741 early termination fee waived

That's simply because the account wasn't registered under her grandma's name. If they do, it's out of goodwill. If they don't, just pay up and let her RIP.
as i was reading the story, i felt quite sleepy. I mean, there is some heart principles to be applied, some empathy needed by Simba. But facts don't lie. She applied on behalf, and yes i think we can apply for someone using my name, different address as nric, it has to be indicated in the sign up.

However, i feel this can't be used as an excuse. Everything go by name of the registered person. If the registered customer passes on and the NOK emailed simba, there might be chances of waiving. But in this case, it paints a different picture.

Broadband should be made contract-less then no such issue.

I think the stomper is damn entitled
When you have a family member so sick and can't register for themselves, then you come and comment.

Simba simply greedy. At least waive half the cost lah. Though can't waive fully.

next time, when your family member so sick and cant register for themself, dont register broadband plan for them.

get a contractless mobile plan instead. use mobile router or handphone with hotspot. less tgan $10 a month and can cancel anytime.

she is entitiled and stupid.

she should have bought a mobile router, a postpaid simcard from eight or simba. the cheapest plan has more than 400gb, more than enough for cctv and other internet usage.
i mean for us who know, can use mobile router or simply using phone hotspot. But for most people out there, they wouldn't know that this temp solution exists. If you ask people out there, most people would not know about the mobile router and get a cheap sim only plan for that.

But then, i have to agree she is some what entitled. She sarcastically said, if i passed away, how can i email you like this? Of cos i email on behalf..

But then again, the ISP service was signed up using her name, her address, but installed at other location. If you are the company, you wouldn't also waive it. If it's registered to the person who passed on, and her/his NOK emailed me, the company would have considered the waiver or partial waiver, excluding NLT charges.

Nope, my late dad refund was rejected even though the account under my late dad and I showed Simba the death cert. Simba told me to continue using my late dad's number till the wallet empty
That's a mobile line? Then that's easily passed off to someone else to use, I guess that's what they thought. Telcos don't refund unless it's wrong billing, nothing new. Your case is not having to pay more.

Singtel allows change of number so I'd do that. To me is no choice coz I've signed a contract. We know such contracts have been going on for years, sign and pay penalty if really have to cancel. But with Singtel there's a choice to change numbers at a smaller fee. That is, when I sign a line for someone else to use.

Anyway, we're talking about breaking contacts here, yours is refund. I just realized that, too lazy to edit above 2 paragraphs now.

For this case, it's a broadband contract at a different address where there's now no one else there to use. She should've been more aware when signing on the dotted line that these telcos will tok if they can. Never sign with an entitled mindset, only to start a drama when it's actually time for something else but this. Simba has even offered to relocate the address, giving them an alternative instead of a dead No. I read somewhere in the article that she's even looked around for cheaper alternatives before settling on Simba. So she'd a certain sense of awareness while getting herself into a contract, but with the thought that she could break it. Oh well.

when using mobile internet, easy to get public IP for cctv. or need to use some cloud subscription solution?

For your case, not surprising.

- it's a mobile line ; can be passed to someone else to use. On number change, might depend on how you approach them.
- it's a refund of wallet balance ; something none of the telcos have the habit of doing.
- it's Simba ; known to be rigid with their TnC.

Has anyone converted simba physical sim to eSIM? I tried looking for it in the app but I can’t find this option. Have to go to Simba dealer to change?
