Just received the eSIM replacement email and updated the eSIM. Still see 5G with iPhone 16PM.
your icon on iPhone will not change.

5G+ is just a marketing name. No difference in real technology used.

If SingTel and Apple make aggrement to "update" the icon on iPhones, you will see "5G+' displayed. Until then, your iPhone will always show 5G only.

This kind of "marketing name" has already been popular around the world. In China is called 5GA. In the US is called 5G UW, UC or 5G+.

But, they are still just normal 5G. SA and 700MHz are just normal 5G. Like Starhub and M1, has been using SA since always. But they never called theirs "5G+"

The marketing terms corrospond to different technologies.

5G+ is not an offical label however it is usually in reference to the rollout of the n28 700mhz frequency band.

5GA is an offical label, standing for 5G Advanced which is the next iteration after 5G, so called 5.5G. It's main features include higher theoretical throuput and it can act as a location service sepreate from GPS, among other improvements.

5G UC/UA is similar in principle to 5G+ where it refers to millimeter wave (mmwave) frequency bands.

Anyone using feels the connection is very on and off for its 5G SA? I check and track on nPerf app on iOS, keeps changing between SA and NSA, seems it’s not fixed at SA for now it seems.
Or is it because the full SA mode launch is kind of a gimmick 😅
By the way, this test was around Raffles Place and it’s not consistent, not sure it will affect my phone’s battery life due to it keeps changing in between NSA and SA

quite common even for 4g and 4g+ .. it is all dependant on the cell tower

ignore this..

5G+ has no meaning. n28 700 MHz or even n71 600 MHz does not mean it is "plus". These bands have been used all over the world, but never getting called "plus". It's just SingTel marketing.

here's a document about 5GA. https://www.nokia.com/mobile-networks/monetization/5g-advanced/5g-advanced-explained/
it has nothing to do with SA/NSA, CA, or frequency band. It only means those "IoT support", "location finding" differences. For pure NR usage, no difference.

5G UW and UC are also no meaning. They don't even mean mmWave. In the US, if connected to mid band (n41, n77), it is already considered UW and UC.

So nothing changed.. Here in Singapore, SingTel is just marketing its 700MHz, and giving SA to MVNOs. All are still 5G as vanilla as in 2019.
