how to re-partition?

I decided to get the Wind after all the raves and positive reviews in this thread on this piece of machine.

Bundled in the Comex promotion, it now comes with 160GB HD.

However I realised that it's factory default partition is 40GB for C drive and 120GB for D drive.

Personally I prefer a larger C drive since previous experience shows that regular windows update eats up too much space in C drive.... resulting in less than optimal working performance.

Can any bros share what is the easiest way to re-partition without having to re-install XP? Any good freeware out there that is reliable?

Thanks a mil !!

This round there's no 'pre-order', deposit not enough;must pay in FULL first then wait for stocks to arrive somewhere in Sept onwards.Btw the limited editon costs $50 more.

I realized Corbell hasn't participated in this thread in quite some time... They seem to have disappeared already...

Avoiding all the questions from the pioneering batch?...

So is this the "thanks" we get for going through all of MSI's nonsense and helping to spot and fix them?

Limited edition one has some sort of artwork on the netbook case. That's about all. You can get a normal version and get those 3rd party notebook skins.

Well, it's $899 at COMEX, and selling out fast - I saw no less than 2 people walking around with a newly bought MSI Wind in less than 1 hour. Would you pay as much attention to 20 people who are going to buy your product at $100 less? :s22:

I talked to Corbell on thursday at Comex, he says he's trying to get the 6-cell below $100 for us early adopters. Hope it happens.

If i was a business man, of cuz i wouldn't bother about these bunch of people who want to buy my product at a cheaper price when everyone else is willing to pay the premium price. Even though these people put themselves out on my list and waited 3 months earlier.

But it will speak a lot about my INTEGRITY.

Hi Doody,

Thanks for your reply.

I found a unknown and un-tried freeware called Easeus partition manager. There is practically no user review on this... but since it is free :D:s21: and as my U100 is brand new - (I am not so concerned about possible data-loss.).. i decided to take the plunge and try it.

To my pleasant surprise.... it works like a charm to re-size my existing default partition. It took me just 15 minutes to resize, re-boot and confirm that my C-drive is indeed now 110Gb. This includes the time I took to figure out the software's interface.... so I am suitably impressed! :s21:

I just wanted to share this info with bros who (like me) prefer a larger C partition.

And Doody, thanks for the link to the Wlan drive update! Cheers!

Do u think that the Recovery will work "F3..." if ur partition size is different from the default one?

If it's a "OEM reinstall", then partition size shouldn't matter. If it's imaging the original image back, then it might not work, depending on the software used to image it. Some software might not be able to restore an image if the original partition size has changed.
