I saw Blind Guardian early albums near the headphones section for $12.95. Not many left, try your luck. Not sure about LOG but should have and prob full price item.

Damn! I paid full price for Last Action Hero OST back when it was released. Also saw a copy of super rare This Perfect Day's 2nd album there for $3.95 only....

the Gramamphone clearance sale is still on...came across Last Action Hero soundtrack for $3.95...and bought 2 DVDs for $12 each. Gonna go there again....think the sale until end of year.

No Amon Amarth? Come on, they are way better than most of the bands on your list (the only band they aren't better is Megadeth, Scar Symmetry, Mercenary, Dio and Black Sabbath).

Speaking of AA, I have not get their albums yet, HMV dun have them the last time I was there. Few weeks back i think.

Music is subjective la. Amon Amarth might be good to you but might not be nice to others. No such thing as way better, only individual preferences.

But I guess if 1 like Melodeath, should give AA or Dark Tranqualitity a try.

I think the term "better" can only be used when comparing things with technical specifications. I listen to them (and they're good, no doubt), but not as much as I listen to the other bands. The banner is made from the top 20 metal artists in my last.fm ranking. As I mentioned before, I'm digging melodeath now. Any melodeath you have to intro? I already have AA in my library.

Melodeath is not a genre worth spending time on. Go listen to some real Death Metal, like Quo Vadis, Death, Benighted, Morbid Angel, Gorod, Atheist and Cynic.

And I hate to say this, but some of the bands on your banner is your typical scene kid metal that's shallow and soulless.

And I'm still exploring more sub-genres. Just picked up Ensiferum. Metal is one big family, there is no "real" or "fake" metal if the song has the essence of metal in it. And as long as the song has a tune, it's considered music. There are haters and lovers for each subgenre, yes. If you hate melodeath, keep it to yourself. You don't like melodeath doesn't mean other people (I.E. me) doesn't.

In the end, it's all about enjoying what the music that you listen to. But you saying that the bands I listen to is "shallow and soulless" is just plain crossing the line. We're all metalheads, right?

Just keep listening to melodeath then. Sooner or later you'll get bored of the genre, maybe after that you'll understand what I mean. Anyway just check out the bands I recommended, and do check out some black metal bands like Immortal and Emperor.

I killed The Prom Queen is just metalcore. Deathcore if you want to stretch it (I would barely call it deathcore), but certainly not melodeath.

lol yeah they are funny, a bit like like Green Jelly and maybe a bit of Weird Al. Yankee... For shock rock/metal, i think Lizzy Borden is not too bad as well.
