I ish feel for chiu bro.
chiu miss out a lot of fun, same as me, especially during my poly days.
have to be reserved and indoors due to my skin problem.
I hope you have recovered from the depression. Dunch think so much ahz, be positive can le.

I am sure you got ur parents / love ones to care abt chiu =)

Thanks bro for your concern ;) infact my eczema and psoriasis is very much under controlled since couple of years back when i visited this ah ma (but now his son took over the chinese medicine method) in Malaysia. Just that there are certain food that i cant take (although at times temptation lead me to it).

Have recovered from my depression ever since my skin condition improved tremendously and i am happily married as well.

Reason why i want to post my replies here (although it rakes my heart to even think about how i been through) is to hope and give those eczema sufferers some guidance and advices as i have been through what it takes to cure myself. It was long and painful process which lead to depression. There was once a point whereby i contemplated suicide..

Hi Shar,

Taken from Wiki:
Psoriasis (pronounced /səˈraɪəsɪs/) is a non-contagious disorder which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. The scaly patches caused by psoriasis, called psoriatic plaques, are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes on a silvery-white appearance. Plaques frequently occur on the skin of the elbows and knees, but can affect any area including the scalp and genitals. In contrast to eczema, psoriasis is more likely to be found on the extensor aspect of the joint.

The disorder is a chronic recurring condition which varies in severity from minor localised patches to complete body coverage. Fingernails and toenails are frequently affected (psoriatic nail dystrophy) - and can be seen as an isolated finding. Psoriasis can also cause inflammation of the joints, which is known as psoriatic arthritis. Ten to fifteen percent of people with psoriasis have psoriatic arthritis.

The cause of psoriasis is not known, but it is believed to have a genetic component. Factors that may aggravate psoriasis include stress, excessive alcohol consumption, and smoking.[1] There are many treatments available, but because of its chronic recurrent nature psoriasis is a challenge to treat.

I have been through the depression and i no longer cared about how ppl look at me or at my skin condition (when i have those flare ups). But one thing is for sure, for those who are not aware of such skin problems, they really shun you and avoided you. Infact in my previous job, this has affected my previous job quite alot.

I am very grateful that i got recovered about 80 to 90% as compared to previous episodes.

I know how you feel when your skin condition worsens and itch like hell. Then scratch till skin tears abit, watery and scaly. The area becomes patchy and inflamed. Per my earlier post, i was once so severely inflamed that my whole body becomes so red and itchy, very warm to touch on skin but i felt so cold inside. That period i developed insomnia as well.

Well, looking back, this teaches me alot in dealing with life. :)

ohh by the way, i even went through extreme UV therapy to treat my eczema.. Very damaging to skin but no choice. Doc even want to prescribed me oral meds (mind you, these meds are used for organ transplant patient to help one accept the organ). Doc also warn me of side effects that it may causes cancer!!! WTF.. in the end luckily i didnt opt for that option.. The doc i seen is at Gleneagles - Skin specialist..

I want to further discuss on the social impact on one who is suffering from eczema or any other skin disorder other than treatments or so. I just felt that I am stepping out of the closet for the 1st time to discuss on this matter.

During my time when I am in depression and suffering from severe eczema, I always envied those who got normal skin and can enjoy and do whatever sports that they like, wear clothes that it’s a forbidden stuff to us. For those who are singles and feared that one would remain single, I as an example, suffers from inferior complexity and do not dare to date any girl nor to even dare to think of dating one who do not mind my skin condition. Parents of mine were so worried about my skin conditions and since my childhood, they have brought me to whatever skin doctors or from friends recommendation that they can find but to no avail. Tried all sorts of nonsense like eating Armadillo cooked as soup, eating snake gall etc, I eat those before. I travelled all the way to China to seek Chinese medication but all hopes were dashed as I couldn’t stay for long period for prolong diagnosis and treatment. In the end, it was a very tiring and tedious process whereby it wears down everyone in my family. It also wears down financially as well.

Because of such experience I have been through, I am very grateful and indebted to my parents and friends who supported me through the difficult times. For those who previously shunned away from me, there is nothing to be scared of nor if its contagious. I only urged you to be more aware of such skin problems as it can happen to anyone even a healthy person can develop eczema in their adulthood which is not uncommon. Through these experiences, I also got to know my wife whom we got married and doesn’t mind my condition at all and she bored me a child just last year.

Thus to all those who think that you are going through the same similar situation as I do, please do not think that you are alone nor to blame anyone who brought you to this world as this is all fated. Live your life to the fullest and you will be rewarded for your perseverance. Like I mentioned, I have been through the toughest time during the bleakest point in my life and there is still a silver lining that I look forward to. Although certain social functions are not meant for eczema sufferers but this is not the end as compared to those who are handicapped and we should be grateful that we can still function normally.

I am not preaching or so but to provide you some form of moral support and life experiences.

:)

Hey bro,

Chinese Physician wise i only got China lobang in GuangZhou where i went to see. Its formerly a military hospital - 南方医院. Pure chinese medication will take ages to see the effect and the chinese physician did mention to me before that they need to use western and chinese medication to achieve the cure or so. However i didnt have the time luxury (nor financial) to stay that long.

However if you are willing, the chinese physician that i am seeing is at Malaysia - Segamat. The chinese physician was the major for segamat and he dont ask for $ for the treatment as he is just carrying on his mother's trade and he has his full time job as well. Only pay for the medication ointment.. He will perform some acupuncture for you. Treatment is about 3 times thus one full day needed to be at segamat.

Let me know if you are keen to try. ;)

used to have skin problems as well when i was young, all the way until I entered NS. Then I tot chiam liao, go NS got to touch oil, dirt etc, skin prob sure get worse, even tried to get clerk job but the doctor only gib me pes B, so lan lan still got to go.

the funny thing is that during my NS, my skin problems cleared up completely. This is dispite touching oil to clean rifle, crawling thru mud, cleaning toilet/bunk.

The only thing different that I can think of is that during NS, forced to drink alot of plain water.

so nowadays, i drink my 8 glasses a day and my skin condition not only disappeared but improved! if i stop then i do get the occasional outbreak but going back to drinking water clears it up again.

i don't intend to make light of others who might have more severe problems, just would like to share how i stumbled on this simple cure and i hope it might be useful for others as well.

Hi AHHSee, I tried TCM before. But not discipline enough. Everyday have to drink the stuffie. I have tried Ma Kuang and another one near queensway "San(3) Shun(4)" 3rd Uncle Medicine Clinic.

Anyone heard before?

Glad that i am able to shed some personal experiences and thoughts. I am like stepping out of this closed closet for so many years and hopefully provide folks some hopes and courage.

Look forward to the silver lining :) its not the end of the road yet.. keep going ya?

One thing for sure, till now i still dont dare to wear any black clothes or so because of our skin flakes that is even more obvious to bystanders..

:)

i guess this is what the thread is all about... sharing of remedies/treatment, encouragements.

there is no one sure way to treat eczema. some medicine/treatment works for certain people and not for others. thus we all come together to share what we know, and hopefully find something that works for us :)
