Do they sell the brown ones in SG (simlim? harvey norman?)

I want to get the brown one but where is the best deal? Hope you can help me out with it... Tot of going down simlim to get it this weekend...

When is the next IT show by the way? I need it quite urgently for work purposes...

Posted this in another thread but since it fits my acer aspire one i shall post it in this thread too. Enjoy them....u can get it for $16 as a challenger members and $19 for public. SLS got alot of similar looking ones going at $9.90 but the material for the cheaper ones are thinner and lousier.

a computer with a windows operating system that doesn't install the most recent version of microsoft office is basically trash, literally.

unless you're planning to get the linux version aspire one, then you may choose to get open office.

Saw someone selling in the garage thread less than a week set asking for S$599, probably can bargain down to S$550 or so.

If you are into 3.5G, Harvey Norman has the exclusive 3.5G model (built-in 3.5G HSDPA modem) going for S$888 and is only Brown color, and best of all, the Jurong Point Harvey outlet actually selling it for S$788, with 4GB thumbdrive some more.

one qn...anyone got PING (Ghost-like) bootup on USB thumbdrive...

would like to create disk image of my hdd on Aspire One...but dont have external DVD drive to boot up my PING CD....FYI, image will be created on USB HDD.

anyone know how to do that without external CD/DVD drive...

then can play with nb without worrying abt reinstalling XP again.....

BTW, 1.5GB enough for XP? Although cannot up any more...

go to the AAO forum, it is described there in details how to do it with USB. Also within 90 days you are eligible to ask for free recovery disk from Acer. Concerning memory XP works well with 1.5, nevertheless it is not possible to install more

finally bought my AAO brown color at $600.

so far so good but had this problem, its with the windows media player, everytime i play songs on it, after 19 mins the lappy will jammed and there's nothing i can do but to take out the battery.after that i was unable to go into windows and there is a blue screen that says physical sys memory and i have no chance but to do a e recovery.

thankfully i backed up my data. but when i play songs again using WM player, closed the WMP and the songs still plays on! wth is happening anyone experienced the same thing as me?

Not sure about what happened but anyway next time you can use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close the WMP process itself when it still plays on..

mayb u can try restore ur os to factory default again
the 1st time i recieve my netbook i the software having some problem too
restore to factory default and and it solve the problem

Got the acer aspire one netbook from singnet.

I can't load the internet browser. Not IE, not FF.

In IE, it gave me an error message,"Cannot find<some funny chinese character>. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."

When I load FF, it crashed.

I can connect to the internet. But I can load the internet browser. Help!!

To all people interested in getting a ASPIRE ONE, this is my experience with the service centre as well as their manager.

I sent in a aspire one last weekend. i got hte quotation for repair today. guess wat? $795!!!!!! i called to enquire why is was so expensive and i was told there was water damage, and the LCD has cracked.....well......firstly no water has ever been spilled on the netbook...so what water damage? also, i looked around on the net and seems the LCD crack 5-6 months in to a usage is a fairly occurance and it seems ACER is not honest about this. i queried the manager how could there be water damage if no water was spilled on it? and he kept evading my question to talk about hte lcd screen. when i was not pleased with his reply, i asked for his superior contact, guess what, he then told me he is the incharge of hte service centre, and there is no one else i can talk to...what bluu**** is this, if it is so transparent, why are you dodging my questions? why do you not dare to let me speak to your superior?

acer, you just lost a customer. and i will be pursuing this matter with your company.

Wow Wow... $795 can buy a brand new Acer Aspire 250 with $60 change...

flanker27 yes, actually i almost bought one. But I've read elsewhere about the cracked screen as well. That held me back. Hearing your experience is enlightening indeed.

flanker27, i've been reading up on the Acer screens and it seems like you're not the only one with the cracked screen problem.

Other people have had the cracked screen in normal usage of the laptop/netbook. ie. even the closing of the lid may cause cracked screen.

One user went as far as to file a case with the consumer association in the UK, the equilavent of CASE in S'pore.

The repairs quotation they gave you is absurd. You may want to write them an email, get their response in black and white and then report it to CASE officially.

In any case, the item purchase should work for it's intended purpose. And since yours is cracked under normal usage, they should actually repair/replace it for free if it's still under warranty.

Contemplating about getting a AOD 250, any common complaints about this model?

I can get this model (first hand) for $608 but without any freebies. So do you guys think that I could get a lower price for this model at the upcoming Show next week?
