Where to fix roomba 530 power supply?

Hi all, need advice and help.

I just bought a irobot 530 back from US.

As usual, plug in before reading manual (ya, I know, it is stupid).

The power supply gave a 'pop' sound and went into coma.

What should I do now?

Yicks! power supply replacement parts from the states is exp.
yet to check with local distributor but do not think it will be cheap.

Can I just get a universal power adpator to replace this power supply or I can easily replace the "pop" part? :s11:

Thanks in advance for advice.

You open up and see which component burnt? I suspect its's the varister or capacitor. I might be able to help. Show me the pics.

To altums: Really ah.. .ok ok .. . . I head down for a look.. . after repair, just buy a step down transformer? For the step down transformer, read in forum best to get a 100W one newstar?

Anyone knows what is the usual cost for such repairs?

To Jubooo, erm, at the risk of sounding idiotic =:p, there is no screws, so I just pull apart the power supply? I think will head down to SLT to get a quote and see what is my best option. .. .

Any more advice is welcome. Thanks! :D

There are 4 studs below. White in colour and is stick there, pull in out using your finger and it will reveal the screw inside.

Oh oh. ..i see. . . . :s34: paiseh paiseh . .... .

Okay. opened it. . . . .saw some brown liquid and a burst capacitator(?) - a black colour round thingy located somewhere in the middle. (sorry, unable to post picture.)

So looks like I just need to get it repair and get a 100W step down transformer to attach it to the power point?

If you want to repair might as well change the capacitor with a higher voltage. It will cost you less that 10% of what you need for a step down.

iRobot Roomba 530

Hi All,

Just bought one Roomba 530 recently.
What you suggest? Buy a transformer or buy an universal adapter?
Could also give suggestions on the brand/model?

Thank you,

Jimmy

universal adaptor only change the pin to be able to plug into singapore wall socket right ? the voltage is still 110V?

and will still need a transformer to convert it to 220V to be used in singapore ?

I not very sure about this.
but i am using newstar 150W transformer for 2years. on 24/7 since day 1, powering a roomba and a scooba..

:s22: why do you need an universal adapter~?

A transformer would be enough.

no it is not normal. I guess the external box is way too big, maybe can put in 2 box of rooba~

Normally the weight of roomba would be 6-7kg only, while scooba slightly heavier. :s22:
