hello people, where do majority of the singaporean students stay at(indooroopilly, toowong etc) any recommendations on locations to get accommodation?
best is to see the place before you sign your contract and moved in.whats the usual process of getting accommodation? do you guys actually go down physically before semester starts to find accommodation or via pre booking?

pre-booking..not recommended unless its a place that your friend is staying or he/she help you viewed the place that you are going to lived in.
hi people, anyone still looking for accommodation. keen to share for july intake?
trying to get friendly housemates so can rent whole apartment. try me a mail if u really intrested paomilolim_haolim88@hotmail.compaoomilo got lobang ah?..haha
i would say yes to that or at least get someone to view on behalf of you.So it is better to go down physically to view at the place?
Toowong or st lucia is best if you want to be near sch. 5 mins bus from toowong or 5 mins walk from st lucia.
AND.. for all singaporeans to note. For the time I've been here, I can tell you that there's no point joining the UQSSS ( UQ Singaporean Student Society ).
firstly, the committee are either ignorant or stuck up just probably because they are from some freaking rich family or they feel that they are that great.
secondly, they hold activites that are either meaningless or waste of time.
thirdly, they choose who to invite, rather than just invite all of the members from the club.
lastlt, even if you join UQSSS, you wont get any benefits like discounts from coles or toowong villages where other clubs like CCM provide.
So if you are some poor fuc kers, or you just don met their expectation, be ready to get some bangladesh treatment from them.
Save ur money and join other clubs. Even the Hongkong student society is way better than our UQSSS. My advise is only this. If you don believe, try asking around singaporean students who are here alreday.
i agree to a certain extent. the kids in SSS aren't doing a good job at all. they have very high self-esteem. the events they hold are not really to meet pple. most singaporeans there are already in their grps, so it takes a LOT more to mingle with them than if u go to other asians or ang mohs. but then again, as members, we are not as appreciative as other clubs'. but honestly, i think the worst club is HKSA.i like ur post.
QUT SSA can suck my balls too.
i agree and i think it's even better and cheaper than toowong village's!do take note that you can get cheaper asian grocery at darra. just take the train from either indoorpilly or toowng train station heading towards ipswich. fresh fishes and vegs, but do take note on the can foods expiry. one box of indomee mee goreng goes for $10+.
for coles and woolworth, they have stocks to clear especially fresh food that are near expiry date or when the shops are closing for the day. Not always and depend your luck. i know that Mt Ommaney shopping centres' butcher shops and woolies/coles have constant food stocks to clear before the end of their business day.
opposite river bank is just as good or even better. if u look at google map, the campus is at the edge of the surburb, which is next to the river. if u stay across the river bank, u can get to city, sunshine coast, gold coast downwards to NSW etc in a shorter time and with more options and convenience. if u miss the food in sg, u can always head down to sunny bank which is absolutely more accessible than if u stay in indooroopilly and toowong. with the new tunnel opened, buses, train ride and citycat is even more convenient than if u stay in west brisbane. groceries are also generally cheaper with more variety.
most importantly, the prices are more reasonable.
remember, same suburb doesn't equate nearer and more convenient. measure the distance and look at available transport.
hmm...most pple will try to settle down within 2 weeks usually, but i'm the kind who prefer to pick and choose rather than under time pressure. i'll suggest around 3 wks. afterall, u'll be staying in that place for at least the next 4-6 months. if u've made the right pick, u may be staying even longer.hello, how early must i need to head down to UQ to find accommodation any ways or tips to find?
