just ranting here. sorry to OT but i'm damn pissed my friend thinks htc/motorola and all other android phones are ****, compared to iphone. gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh cant stand ignorant people that follow trends and hype just because its apple

ok rant over

Haha I understand how you feel. It just annoys me when i hear my friends around me iPhone is the best bla bla bla. I just keep quiet and not say anything.

put legend and iphone side by side. increased brightness level to max for both. dont even have to say a word. enjoy looking the at the facial expression of the iphone user. :D

for best effect, do it outdoor under sunlight. :D

for the more daring, do a drop test. i place my bet on the legend over iphone any time of the day. :)

Hi all,

i'm caught in between milestone and HTC legend. So might need some advise from those who have being using HTC legend. is there any problem using HTC legend so far? when comparision is HTC legend better than motorola milestone?

regards

i was in the same position as you the first day when milestone was launched. but youtube videos of htc legend don't lie. so decided to wait and i m glad i did. :D

what i m about to say next is purely base on my own preferences and decision making thereafter. yours and others may very well differ and the earth still spins regardless.

- if i wanted a sliding keypad, it must be decently good. something similar to nokia 97 mini. milestone keypad is not good enough *for me*. the keys are flat and i cant type fast without look at what keys i am actually pressing. eyes have to scan up and down back and forth from sliding keypad to screen.

- if keypad not good, might as well stick to pure touchscreen qwerty. so no matter how thin or light or how smooth or not smooth the milestone sliding mechanism is, it doesnt really matter to me at that point.

the only issue left is the screen size difference. of course, bigger more shiok but more bulky and less pocketable.

Legend has more positive points for me to offset the 0.5 inch screen size difference - nice looking AND protective unibody aluminum design, improved htc sense, AMOLED display, ...etc. IF Legend has only ONE advantage over milestone, i may have bought the milestone instead knowing well that i will not use the sliding keypad often.

in conclusion, the best way to make a decision is to go down to a telco shop and have a hands-on test on both phones. i did mine via the milestone display set at starhub vivocity and legend at m1 android workshop. so if you dont bother enough to do your own research and hands-on testing, you got only yourself to blame if you regret your decision after your purchase.

in the event you do regret your decision, look on the bright side, there is ALWAYS a better phone coming. :D

omg so ex... legend never give u data cable?? my nexus one got lehz..

of course got give. use the default one for home charging. buying this for charging using my netbook. so i prefer a short and highly portable cable and i dont like the retractable ones - ugly and unreliable.

the price is for 4 cables (the 4th one is a usb extension cable). since cant (and lazy) to find one that has the same short white non-retractable micro usb-b cable, dont mind getting this.

i have friends/clients who use iphone. so can give them the iphone cable as goodwill or provide them as a service to charge it using my laptop power. :)

since micro usb is going to be the industry standard for handphone charging, might as well invest in a good one now.

the mini usb cable is still useful for my other mini usb gadgets. if only 1 usb at $22.90, then its too expensive for me regardless how short, how cool or how white it is. :D

good luck! if you can wait some more, wait and compare with htc desire. htc legend is not going to go out of stock in a couple of weeks. :)

for me personally, anything bigger than 3.5 inch is too big for my pocket. i dont like holding handphone in my hands at all times or use a waist pouch (too uncle looking for me though by age i m considered an uncle. haha). so tats why there is no need for me to wait for desire, evo, samsung s, iphone HD, .....etc.

for me to sacrifice not being able to pocket it comfortably, the advantages must be damn significant and useful.

just wanna add one more thing, the telco package/discounts is also very important when considering legend or milestone, unless you so rich to buy it without contract. so i have factored into my analysis the fact that :

1. I manage to get the CSO to give me $100 voucher off $348

2. Kelly clarkson tickets worth $170 (actual worth which can be verified from sistic and not some usually inflated figures). the milestone offer 1 week later was quite good also (bluetooth headset + docking station), but i prefer cash off the promo price or spare battery which is more useful to me than a bluetooth headset.

3. I am starhub hubber. for me to switch telco, the offer have to be more than starhub voucher + kelly clarkson tickets + savings from maxonline, cable tv, mobile line. so obviously, m1 and singtel cant match the savings, let alone beating it.

4. I am an NBA fan (go Cavs!!) and starhub just announce they got a multi-year contract with NBA Asia (pending approval from authorities)

as you can see, i quickly ran out of reasons not to get legend on day one. :D

one quick update about the MS (milestone) and legend regarding youtube/starhub mobile tv audio lag. i think it is network dependent and not because one phone is better than other for this specific application. on legend, sometimes the audio lag is very minimal, sometimes quite significant.

Guys! Need help with the in-bulit Google Map!

Using it with both GPS and WIFI -> everything's fine
Using it with only GPS -> still can locate and blue dot moves when im in the car, BUT only a portion of the map is displayed, and no matter how i navigate, the rest of the map remains grey even when the blue dot is moving in the grey area)

any idea how to solve this issue so that full map is displayed even when there is no internet connection?

Alternatively, any other map apps to intro?

To share with everyone.
currently using starhub powervalue 100.
if u subscribe to smartsurf 100, u only get it 50 cheaper.
if u take the mobile broadband premium, promo now is 9.95, u get additional 100 dollars off but the only downside is you get 1GB only.
if u exisiting starhub cable tv or maxonline, u get 50 dollar more.
I squeeze the CSO n get 100 voucher.
so total savings. 250 dollars ! and plus hubber, i still get additional discount.
you can upgrade to smartsurf 100 if u think u will exceed 1GB every month without any penalty.
