does android has any software that will aid in reaping more benefits from the projector?

finally managed to beo the beam just now.

first impressions.

dimensions
heavy. thick. possible deal-breaker.
recommended for those who wanna feels more manly when using their devices. :s13:

build
feels solid. maybe due to the weight.
plastic casing will cause u some grease, oops, i meant grief.

screen
s-amoled display quality is unquestionable :D
responsive to touch but high speed typing is not good.
think the DroidX multi-touch typing is dope in this dept. since the Beam's screen is also multi-touch capacitive, why can't they do it like DroidX? :(

speed
usable but lag can be felt
speed demons should steer clear of the beam. :(

camera
photo quality is not satisfactory :(
80% of the pictures taken suffered from "shakiness"
shutter lag was unbearable.
video seems good though.

unique feature
projector performed better than expected
only tried it in the dark and recommended to only do that and on white screen :o
in the dark and on white screen, the projection is quite impressive

They've already ripped the DroidX keyboard for use on other Android phones.

Yes, SH's HSPA network is functional at most. Speedwise it's urrggghhhh....

If I tether can reach the max speed, but on phone itself it's like that lor. Anyway M1 and ST also not fantastic. Blame technology in this case.

oh shucks, memory beam is lesser than GS....and no swype also? omg...

Well, other HTC phones also can use Swype, just install lah. It's a much cheaper phone compared to GS...somethings got to go to even out.

but ripper should still be going to get Beam.
launching this Saturday.

ripper's omnia2 trade-in is $300 but the Beam is only $198 for ripper.

so if any buttie who wanna get Beam on a lower plan and has a $200 trade-in phone, welcum to pm ripper to capitalise on exchanging phones before trade-in so as to optimise the trade-in value. :D

Ripper, gostan took out the phone, pointed the projection to the ground, side panel and noticed the image was still sharp. Lag may be due to mobile operator.

ripper went for another quick testdrive before leaving office ytd.
so add some quick thoughts.

1. UI was so boring i thought i was playing with an iphone :s22:

2. absolutely hate the touch-sensitive Menu and Back keys.
when fiddling with the camera, hand brushed the Back key twice, bringing the camera mode back to home :s22:
also, it's not sensitive. sometimes touch it to go back, but phailed :s22:
would very much prefer physical buttons with tactile feedback.

3. 2nd time round, feels it's really thick. weight wasn't the big issue. the thickness is. :(

4. lag is definitely there, but not enough to really bother ripper.

5. biggest :s11: mark here is the pinchzooming of images.
pinch zoom in to enlarge, but the image auto zoom out again once the fingers are released.
only way to remain zoomed in is to double tap :s22:
is this standard for android?

Food for thoughts for potential buyers would be the durability of the pico projector. would it be a bitch to maintain? :s11:

ripper having 2nd thoughts abt Beam. maybe shall hold back and not get it during launch roadshow and wait for official review on the actual performance of the 800MHz processor. :s22:
