For example, Economist, Fortune mag, newsweek etc.. is there an online subscription service? Can't find any with Google.

are you referring to hard copy subscription? I use the agent, Righteous international or something like that. Sometimes they have student deals - use student ID and get v good discount, for Economist or Biz week. If you are asking about subscription for e-ink reader, can download through pressreader.com. pay per issue or pay per month etc. magazines/newspapers look v v good on ipad, also use pressreader - get 6 downloads free, i think.

The electronic version of magazines like Time & Newsweek & Fortune only cost US$29.90 per year to subscribe. Check out Amazon.com or B&N websites

Check out Zinio too. Can even access via iPhone or iPad with their app. And lots of magazines much cheaper than the physical copies.

Just checked out the prices @ emitasia.

There is some anomaly as far as pricing goes. Emitasia's prices appear to be higher.

For example, for businessweek, the official cost per year, based on the subscription card inside the mag, is $S240. But emitasia charges $S300 per year!

I agree! But it's so hard on the eyes to read from a screen. The current crop of e-ink readers don't work so well with magazines.

becos they comes with the online version for business week which cover totally different from the hard copy itself...

Since the difference between the printed version (S$300 a year for Singapore) and the US Kindle version (US$29.9 or S$40) is more than S$250, why wouldn't I be "discipline"? :)

I'll choose the Kindle version anytime.

ipad is great for newspapers and mags. pressreader.com allows 6 free downloads for global newspapers. magazines, you have to download the individual app and pay per issue. on both counts, beats e-ink anytime. easier to navigate too..

When I get my new Kindle DX next week, I'll give my feedback. With a 9.7 inch screen which is the same as ipad (minus the colors), it shouldn't be so bad.

o yes pls do. i tried downloading one newspaper into my irex 8 inch, issue also formatted by pressreader. but the navigation was disappointing. with ipad, you get actual newspaper layout, all you need to dois touch the story you want and youget window to read entire story, without havig to repeatedly go back to index of contents etc..

There are so many newspapers and magazines available for Kindle. Has anyone who own Kindle tried them? I am wondering if they are in PDF format or in Mobi or AZW format. If they are specifically prepared/formatted for Kindles (most probably in Mobi or AZW format), I guess there should not be any problem with the formatting and navigation. Any feedback from existing Kindle users?
