I believe that there are no such (written) policy on the limit of purchase. I have know people (from China) asking me in PAris to pick up bags for them, a few years ago, but no more during my recent visit to Paris. Anyway, I dont think you are buying the same line item/model/size for more that 2 pieces. Anyway, just check with the LV counter staff when you are doing your purchase. My preference LV shops are at Avenue Montaigne and Le Bon Marché. The mainstore at Champs Elysees and Galeries Lafayette are always crowded!

Errr...one LV bag per person is incorrect. Each model you could buy only 1.... I have bought a few bags for friends, just that I cannot buy more than 1 per model.

all the LV shops computer r link in ITALY, SWITZERLAND or FRANCE.
Each country can only buy one bag. This is my experience from my 14 days euro holidays from 03 to 16 of OCT/2010

Yes they are linked, including Monaco etc.

Did you ask why they couldnt let you buy more? Did they change the rule now?

For me, 2 or 3yrs ago, I bought a few bags from LV Nice. As I have friends who wanted the same model, so whilst visiting Monaco, I went to LV Monaco.

I asked the sales lady for that particular model....she checked and said it's available. When she keyed in my particulars into her system after bringing out the bag, she was there for the moment, thinking, then called her manager....she asked if I have bought the same bag in Nice, I said yes, and she said errrrrrrr.... to cut the story short, finally she said ok, hence I got the same model x 2.

It would be rude for them to turn away customers. Hence usually after buying the 1st bag, if you want the 2nd, they will tell you that they have no more stock.

Not sure why you were not allowed to buy more than 1 item. I bought 3 or 4items that trip.

Hi all,

the retail price among the various shops in EUR, (apart from London)

a)would be the same as per their website? or
b) Paris would be the cheapest among the rest?

if is a), would it be better that i get from that country where the VAT return is the highest?

Also did a rough comparsion for a same LV bag using the 2 different price stated in the UK and EUR website using below assumptions:

Paris EUR exchange rate is 1.8, VAT is 12%
London Exchange is 2.1, VAT is 17.5%

Seems that is slightly cheaper to get the LV bag in London?

Can anyone correct me if wrong. thanks!

If your itinerary already covers London then it's ok, but if specifically go all e way to London and get the LV , do factor in the Eurostar rate

My ex tour guide said wef jul 10, LV limit each customer to 1 qty of each category. Meaning can only buy 1 bag, 1 wallet, etc per pax. But think it depends on your luck. My hubby managed to buy 2 wallets, on 2 consecutive days. Maybe it's becos he bgt 1 men and 1 lady's wallet so they close one eyes. But cannot buy two on same day.

Price on the website is the same as the physical stores.

you don't get the full VAT 17.5% refund. I bought something from LV in Harrods, price is £255 and VAT refund is only £25.

Not much price difference in Italy and UK. I saw the same item in Rome and Florence going for 300euros. Didn't buy in Italy cos there was a slight defect on the item. Actually, I checked 4 stores (in Italy and London) and there was the same defect and was about to give up purchasing it until I saw the one in Harrods without the defect.

Most stores only have one piece. So buy when you see it. Even if it's cheaper elsewhere, it won't be much cheaper cos the prices are pretty much controlled.

Ok i just came back. There is a limit of 1 piece per passport and they are pretty strict on this. Anyway most items are sold out, and better prepare 1st choice 2nd choice etc.

If u claim tax from Paris CDG airport in cash u will get back only 10.8 % for credit card will be 12 % .

Just a small tip if u happen to head to Venice , and looking for Chanel, go get from Venice, the price is same as Paris but u can get back 14% in pure cash in Paris CDG airport.

thanks! do u get 14% for LV too?

I will be hitting couple of places before last stop at paris. Are the shops able to advise the VAT at the respective countries, or we will get to noe the Rates only when we do the refund?

1piece per passport only?? per day or for the entire trip? if a bag and wallet?

LV in Venice is 12% , the shops shd be able to advise u on the rates. Only Chanel is 14% in Venice

LV limits per trip, 1 item either a bag / wallet etc.

There is one thing which is not stated.

Please make sure in ur receipt, your name is written as ur passport name . Not ur credit card name! Some people wrote " Jenny Lee " In their passport there is no Jenny and the custom refused to chop the tax rebate form as the name is different.

LV limits per trip, 1 item means a bag and walllet /belt no limits. This is according to the sales persons.(per passport)

Yup in London most places impose a service charge when u claim VAT. End up u get only abt 10-13% back.

In Paris i think u'll get d full 12% but if u wanna get cash refund, they'll charge u abt 2.5 euros PER receipt. So if u got 10 receipts, they'll take 25euros.
