I'm trying to decide between intel and ocz vertex 2. Which one is a better buy? Want to buy during the black friday sales.

Intel has international warranty. OCZ is slightly cheaper and has better benchmarks/ performance.

Newegg will only accept PayPal with verified addresses, which is only available to US PayPal accounts. You'll need to use a service who'll help you order with them.

i used vpost to buy things from amazon. vpost provides a US address. not sure if it counts as "verified address". then they'll ship to singapore.

i think intel ssd's local price is quite ok comparing to others like vertex 2. the 80G and 120G's price are ok. if using win7, i'd rather buy intel locally because win7 supports trim. but if using mac osx, then have to buy vertex2. osx doesn't support trim.

Wanted to try out SSD and thinking about getting a not so ex one while looking
through the pricelist. Kingston 64GB 2.5” SSDNOW V Series @ $188 seems ok
although there is a 30GB @ $109 but after checking, 30GB probably too small
for Win7 O/S + Office2010. Any advice from bro/sis here? Thks.

30gb is enuff if u wan to put win 7 os + office 2010 only..

I think fullerms quite right also lah ....
I did a installed win7 + Office2010 on a spare hard disk with drivers & some
basic required apps like TV program etc already total used space 23GB.
That mention winsxs folder taking up 5GB ... and also not forgetting those
temporary file created by running apps and internet. Thats why I thinking
going for 64GB instead of 30GB SSD. Btw is Kingston 64GB 2.5” SSDNOW V Series
good enough for starter like me :D

i tink 30gb still usable la.
like u say only using 23gb.

my whole win7 x64 partition till now only use 16gb
the winsxs folder using 6gb currently

of cos if can afford the extra money, 64gb will be good lor..

I think 64 Gb should be enough for a single os install with a few apps. I also read that it is good to have a small unused partition for garbage collection. I would use 40 gb for os, 10 gb for apps and leave the rest free. Remaining apps can be on a conventional hdd.

looking for an ssd now. ard 60-120gb. should i still get intel G2 or the sandforce controller?

Its for desktop use. The sandforce controller have some issue rite? izzit solved yet?

Waiting for Intel SSD price drop...

Anyway for Intel SSD bought from US where do we send for servicing? Read a couple of posts above that it is international warranty but do they have a servicing centre in Singapore? I remember the last time when I RMAed my P4 CPU, I had to courier it to Penang. :(

Intel SSD X25M 120GB now selling $333 @ Cybermind. That's $2.775 per GB !!!

It's the Lowest Cost/GB SSD in Singapore yet !!!

not sure if its solved..but I bought a Gskill 60GB and the windows got corrupted..reinstalled multiple times still the same..got it exchanged to a Intel G2 and no more problems :D
