that's the problem, I don't know if I need the extra 2GB... I guess the most intensive stuff I do will be simple graphics & video editing, sometimes with Photoshop or Premiere. :o

at $160, go for it if you intend to keep your MBA until it literally breaks.

it doesn't hurt to have 4GB.

I didn't upgrade my stock 2GB because I think I will "upgrade" to the next MBA after three years (and maybe a bit later).

Perhaps Apple finally got the MBA price right?

Macbook Pro vs iMacs ( Which one can handle heavy rendering on Final Cut Pro more ? )

I want to seek advise from you pro mac out there!

I'm still deciding whether should i buy

Macbook Pro
15-inch: 2.4GHz
Intel Core i5
320-GB hard drive
4-GB Memory
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 256 MB
Intel HD Graphics

$$ = S$2,688

OR

iMac
21.5-inch: 3.2GHz
Intel Core i3
1TB hard drive
4GB (two 2GB) memory ( upgrade to 8gb + $320 )
ATI Radeon HD 5670 with 512MB

$$ = S$ 2,508.01

Most frequently used softwares :
1 ) Final Cut Pro
2 ) iMovie
3 ) Garageband
4 ) Logic Pro
5 ) All Adobe softwares

Will it run smoothly and which computer render faster in final cut pro ?
ADVISE ME ..thank you so very much! :) appreciate it!
or should i wait till next year maybe the have new imacs coming out?

I actually think both machines will handle it just fine. Despite the lower processor speed, the MBP does run on i5 while the iMac runs on i3. I'm pretty sure that is going to even things out a little bit there. I think it comes down to three things:

Portability, screen size and whether or not you want the extra capacity on the iMac. If you don't need to be carrying your computer around all the time, an iMac is more than enough and, in many ways, a more superior choice. iMac also equates to a larger screen, which will really help with your video editing as well as photo editing tasks. The extra capacity is just an added bonus. You can always use an external hard drive, sure.

So you just got to ask yourself those questions.

I would say, watch your hard drive ragging ...

especially if its a laptop hard drive.

if I am doing work that will grunt and grind a hard drive, I'd pick the desktop Mac.

Yep. That's the exact reason why you have to decide at check out. Not to mention the fact that the bottom cover of the MBA is secured with special screws too.

Hope you enjoy your new computer!

I think the MBA and iPad are rather exclusive of one another, at least that's how I feel. It doesn't make sense, to me, to buy both. Why don't you go down to a store to check them both out.

If you want a more powerful series of processors, consider the 15/17 inch models instead.

I have 12GB of RAM yet my Page Out counter is currently at 67.7MB after 19:49 hours of uptime.

Win 7 VM at 2GB RAM
Download and uncompressing large files through jDownloader
VLC with 1080p and 720p movies
Opera with > 10 tabs
Some other apps like iCal, Things, Mail, Calc, iTunes

Is this normal? I was thinking with 12GB of ram I won't be having any Page Outs.

Just enjoy and use your mac bro.
Don't worry about the underlying techs.

Hi, would like to ask, does upgrading the 27'' iMac RAM to 16GB complement well with a 3.6GHZ i5? Or shall I get the 2.93GHz quad i7 for better complements?

Would also like to ask, anyone know how much does MS office 2011 for mac and windows 7 is selling here? (Eg Challenger)
