Just to share my experience, i had eczema like two years back.. i had it like 2 to 3 weeks before i went to see the doctor.. i thought it would go away after some time.. when there was an outbreak, i kept washing the area with soap hoping it will get better.
subsequently decided to go see the doc at polyclinic and the doc said it's because of dry skin and prescribed some aqeuous cream and dermasone.. After a couple of months of usage of the cream the eczema still did not go away.. i wondered what caused it and during these times it was really sian, cos when im in school or in class, there were times of eczema breakout..
i tried to keep it away from the sight of my classmates and everyone else if possible. i see liao also think it's rather scary. Like big patches of mosquito bites. when i took bus or mrt, i always hope there's no sudden occurrence of eczema. i kept hoping but sometimes to no avail. i believe some people might have experience this in public and everyone kept a distance from you or give you some "what the hell is wrong with you" look? By the way just to emphasize this.. eczema is not contagious. i live with my family and during these time they didnt get it.. up till now.
one thing i noticed especially is that when you lean/place your arms on the side of the table (it's like when you are eating, your forearms are in contact with the table sides), the chances of the eczema occurring on that area of your forearm is much higher.
i also went online and forum to find out what were the causes and cure for eczema.. i think the info is pretty much like what some of you all here have found too.. thereafter, i bought those redoxon vitamin c capsules and aloe vera gel. Ate the capsules and applied the gel for a couple of months already the eczema still persisted, but i still continued to use them thereafter. sometimes when apply the gel, i thought it got better. perhaps it's just placebo effect haha.
Things started to get better after my birthday and it was a trade-off i would say. cos on my 21st birthday, i had food poisoning and fever. i believe it must be the coffee shop nasi lemak or OCK curry puff which i ate one day before that has caused it. food poisoning and fever resulted in me having no appetite (yet not hungry) and kept wanting to vomit.
After i got better, i realised that during the time i was sick there was no sign of eczema. however i was thinking maybe only these few days don't have only and it would come back soon. but to my delight, it was actually gone for good. i didnt get it since then. from the start to end of this eczema ordeal, it was about 9 months. what a tough 9 months it was.
so to those who have eczema i hope you all will get better soon. during this period take special care of hygiene and dont keep scatching it even if it's itchy. i came to learn that you can train your mental toughness by not scratching haha! take care!
