My ecezma has funnily became much better ever since i put on braces (about 4 months) and i think its seriously more to do with diet and exercising then other stuff.

Nowadays i rarely drink soft drinks...maybe 2 cans a month cause i scared sugar buildup on the braces....zero sweets/chocolate/nuts or any hard food also cause of braces. Eating more porridge and fishball noodles compared to last time Mac/KFC/LJS/western food etc...Now i eat fastfood once every 4-6 weeks only...however i still do eat chicken and duck etc. I also do apply a non-steroid cream (Elidel) once every 2-3 nights.

So i think having a simpler/cleaner diet is the way to go. Of course must exercise and also learn to take care of the face more. Try having a simpler diet for 3-4 weeks and see if it works for you too ! :)

oh yea, i have been eating more papaya on a regular basis too..at least 1 slice every 2 days...maybe that might be a reason too.

i got eczema.. was found allegic to seafood, dairy products like milk, cheese bla bla and soya bean dunno what..

but i love prawns.. even though i get itchy when i eat, i don't care.. scratch until can bleed when i sleep(day time can control, sleep cannot).. but the more i eat.. slowly i got immune to it.. whatever i'm allergic to, i'm not anymore..

as for skin, don't expose to any chemical.. THAT INCLUDES SOAP!
DO NOT USE SOAP!

after doctor recommended me to use soap free cleanser i have been using Cetaphil soap free cleanser(can get from watson, guardian or leading supermarkets) quite expensive though.
oh ya.. after using it my itch starts to die down and eventually even stopped.
But my hands still itch for years, den i realized when i wash my hand, i'm still using soap, clearly from here i know cannot use soap le. not even those liquid soap in most toilet.. cannot use..
Btw Cetaphil is like barley water, u apply like soap but no foam de... quite annoying when i started using it.. but slowly i got used to it.. after 5 to 10 years using it.. i tried soap again for 2 weeks (johnson ph5.5 shower foam) even such mild soap.. they even claimed it to be soap free.. I started itch on my whole body and i stop and swap back to Cetaphil. there are alot of soap free cleanser as long as it's dermatology tested, it should be fine..

Just to share my experience, i had eczema like two years back.. i had it like 2 to 3 weeks before i went to see the doctor.. i thought it would go away after some time.. when there was an outbreak, i kept washing the area with soap hoping it will get better.

subsequently decided to go see the doc at polyclinic and the doc said it's because of dry skin and prescribed some aqeuous cream and dermasone.. After a couple of months of usage of the cream the eczema still did not go away.. i wondered what caused it and during these times it was really sian, cos when im in school or in class, there were times of eczema breakout..

i tried to keep it away from the sight of my classmates and everyone else if possible. i see liao also think it's rather scary. Like big patches of mosquito bites. when i took bus or mrt, i always hope there's no sudden occurrence of eczema. i kept hoping but sometimes to no avail. i believe some people might have experience this in public and everyone kept a distance from you or give you some "what the hell is wrong with you" look? By the way just to emphasize this.. eczema is not contagious. i live with my family and during these time they didnt get it.. up till now.

one thing i noticed especially is that when you lean/place your arms on the side of the table (it's like when you are eating, your forearms are in contact with the table sides), the chances of the eczema occurring on that area of your forearm is much higher.

i also went online and forum to find out what were the causes and cure for eczema.. i think the info is pretty much like what some of you all here have found too.. thereafter, i bought those redoxon vitamin c capsules and aloe vera gel. Ate the capsules and applied the gel for a couple of months already the eczema still persisted, but i still continued to use them thereafter. sometimes when apply the gel, i thought it got better. perhaps it's just placebo effect haha.

Things started to get better after my birthday and it was a trade-off i would say. cos on my 21st birthday, i had food poisoning and fever. i believe it must be the coffee shop nasi lemak or OCK curry puff which i ate one day before that has caused it. food poisoning and fever resulted in me having no appetite (yet not hungry) and kept wanting to vomit.

After i got better, i realised that during the time i was sick there was no sign of eczema. however i was thinking maybe only these few days don't have only and it would come back soon. but to my delight, it was actually gone for good. i didnt get it since then. from the start to end of this eczema ordeal, it was about 9 months. what a tough 9 months it was.

so to those who have eczema i hope you all will get better soon. during this period take special care of hygiene and dont keep scatching it even if it's itchy. i came to learn that you can train your mental toughness by not scratching haha! take care!

Anyone knows if the non-steriod cream Elidel is availiable from any pharmacies?

I got mine from Dr Loke, but consultation + med was already $100...hoping to get it at a cheaper price elsewhere...its quite effective for me.
