Out of the 7 Samsung LCD TVs, 4 broke down within 2yrs and 2 of them now (about 3.5yrs old) are exhibiting some colour flickering. Totally disappointed.

ya, many people never notice Sharp and Sony panel only cover for the first year.

where did you hear that sony is only 1 year warranty on panel? Sony Singapore confirmed the warranty is a full 3 years.

Sharp is only 1 year though.

Whoa. I forgot to check this thread after making it. Didn't know so many people got similar experience.

Now I'm looking for a TV to replace the 32" and can't believe I'm considering Samsung again. I thought I was just unlucky the first time around but seems like a lot of people also got the same experience.

After reading all the responses here, I think I'm going to go for a Sony instead.

LA32S81 white screen

Hi all,

I have my LA32S81 LCT TV with white screen recently.

Opening up the case show that the panel is from CMO - Chi Mei Optics.

Upon query the web, I narrow down to possible T-CON board failure.

If anyone want to trash their LA32S81 TV, please let me know. Thanks.

I don't use my Samsung 40" very often, maybe on Weekends for my boys to play Wii, ocassionally watch some movies, I estimate less than 25 hours/ week and it died recently like many, coming to 3 years. Getting myself a new Sony instead!

I think the comments here need to be put into perspective.

I am sure everyone remembers some of their stats from school.

Incidence rates = incidents per population.

If Samsung sells a million TVs and has a few break downs, is that acceptable?

Also, users with problems tend to highlight their issues much more than satisfied ones.

The majority tend to stay silent.

Cheers.

I think the scary thing about getting a Samsung will be the bad capacitors issue.

But to be objective, I guess every TV will eventually die, or run into problems, irregardless of brand. I don't deny quality plays a part, but luck also plays a part.

I guess every tv also have their fair share of problems....... My toshiba also the same. Spoilt after 2 years plus, repaired and now 3 years plus spoilt again. No point repairing and thus changing as well.

My 32N71 still going strong after 4 years. Samsung N series were high end models, maybe more lasting than the entry level R and S.

My 32N71 died after 3+ years. The sound circuit is ok. Panel does not come up.

So seems that you cannot expect more than warranty period of these TVs nowadays.

In 3 years the technology would have advanced significantly anyway.

Gone are the days that TVs will last for 10 years.

Nowadays, LCD/LED no more manufactured in their country origin so you can't expect the same type of quality assurance.

The price is already an indicator. Good quality comes with a price. ;)

My Samsung 40" LCD Series 7 TV just died on me 4 days ago. The display had vertical lines and the panel is spoilt. It was just 3 mths shy of the 3 year warranty (i.e. 2 years 9 mths) so heng was within the warranty period of the set. Samsung cannot repair or replace so they will refund me =) dunno how much though.

BTW the Samsung dealer for LCD after sales service sux totally. v bad service attitude

I thought they are suppose to replace u with the latest model since it's still under warranty ?

That's what happened when my mother's 32 inch LCD panel spoilt.

they are unable to replace the exact model and for 40" no more latest model from the samsung personnel. stupid thing is that they said the refund will need "samsung management" approval and may take 3-4 weeks to process. in this modern age i can't believe that such a process takes weeks. reflects very badly on samsung side now. I just called them to chase for an update.

To be fair, all my 3 tvs - 2 x 32in lcd and 1 x 22 in led, are Samsung, and working fine.
The oldest is the 32in lcd, coming to 5 yrs soon...regretted listening to HN salesman, extended warranty to 5yrs ( waste of money ! )...have been hoping it will die within the warranty period but no luck :(
the other 2 still under the standard 3 years warranty.
