The last time i tried writing something to it. It failed. Can only detect 120+mb in a 8gb thumbdrive.

The way you express yourself not very sg like. from kl? malaysia?

Hi Guys,

Recently noticed something wrong with the DNS 320. I have it hooked up to two 1T harddisk Western Digital. Both running on RAID ). So far no issues at all until recently.

After backing up or moving a whole chunk of files into the HDD, very often after such a large transfer (about 1000 files total 2 to 4 gig), the whole NAS just freeze. Both LED lights are solid blue. However, my pc and mac would show lost connection to the network drive. When I try to connect or mount the drive manually, they say connection cannot be established.

I tried to log into the DNS web page which is set on a static IP, connect failed. I cannot even just power off. I have to off the power socket plug then reboot the NAS, after which everything is fine. If I were to just transfer a small quantity of files over, no issues. I tried this out a few times and can re-create the problem. A single large file over 500 mb no issues. If you move an entire folder with 1000 over files total over 2 gig, then the NAS would freeze.

Anybody else have this issue or any thoughts on which features I can turn on or off to rectify this? I have also off the HDD hibernation. Turn on the fan permantly to either low or high thinking it might be a heat issue. So far no resolution to this peculiar behaviour.

Tried calling the silly Dlink support. Trust me, their support hotline is worse then crap. Always have to call me back. Call back and read out the manual to me. Any deviation from the manual and the do not even understand the problem.

i just bought the Dns 320 recently, i tried transfer my files from my laptop to store in it. The transfer was not slow neither fast, it was ok. However, the problem starts after the process. My ram doesn't clear up after the transfer. It struck at 80-90% used, i check task manager and nothing was running, my computer become super slow and the only thing i can do is to restart my computer. Any idea what happened and any solution?:(

whoa. Thats good result compared to mine. Are you using lan gigabit connection?

Mine is 10 times slower than yours. 2.5 MB/sec average. Using wireless N connection with the new singtel Black modem 5102n which is always on average 72mbps connection

Yup using Gigabit connection :)

Anyone using the F4 2TB and right side of DNS320 not booting on turning on?

Can hear that the harddisk is trying to spin up at least twice.
Sometime successful sometimes not.

Does not affect the left bay though.

Seem like there are some users having the same problem too.

Is it a defect?

Hey, I got the exact problem. I have just RMA my NAS on Wednesday but still got the same issue. I was told the problem might be due to the hard disk not supported by this model. My hard disk was formatted using the old firmware and was recommended to reformat using the new firmware.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing. Isn't it weird that the famous samsung F4 should have this problem. Somehow I think the DNS320 has some flaw. Which firmware are you trying out. Anyway, it is a harddisk spinup problem. Does formatting helps? I doubt. I suspect the right bay circuitry got some problem with the F4.

BTW...I also have the 323. It does not have this problem at all with the F4 on both bays.

No issue with F4 on either slot.

For those having issue, has the drive been partitioned before with different filesystem?

I am using the firmware 2.0 currently. I still have not reformat the hard disk as too many data to copy out :o

I guess mine next step is to format using the new firmware and monitor.

My F4 is newly brought for the NAS. I even flashed the new firmware for the hard disk as earlier reported that there are some issues with the F4.

Well, not for my case, even with FW1.00 I don't have issue with F4 drive. Hmm, could be a batch issue thingy again. :look:
