every now and then, clean those dusty and hard to reach areas lo.

Guess I don't have much of a choice but to do that.

Why can't they design the halo to be 1inch instead of 1feet?

Haha, how ironic, given a Feet, wants an Inch.

"Halo" simple hack:
- get a pet bottle cap, eg. 500 ml drink
- line the inside with aluminium foil
- put cap on "Halo" sensor
- observe "Halo" range, add more foil if necessary

I got more complicated "Halo" hack, but not for end user.

Have a few questions on roomba.. anyone can advise? :)

1. If my hse is not the minimalist kind will roomba be able to clean efficiently?

2. When using conventional vacuum cleaners, we can avoid wet areas (I mean droplets of water, size of like 50cent coins). With roomba if it vacuum this water, will it cause the sensor to loose it efficiency? Because I have pets at home, when they drink water, they may leave trails of water behind..

little drop of water won't have problem. iRobot is one of the best auto robot for pets so no worries.

Hi, another question,

Roomba seems to know when it finishes vacuuming a room and will stop by itself right? While Scooba will just continue until it runs out of water?

So when Scooba runs out of water and stops, how to tell that it actually finishes cleaning the entire room or I should top up the water and start clean again?

Yes, ur observations are correct.

Scooba will keep cleaning until clean water is empty, dirty tank is full, or battery is flat. This might seem weird at first, since Roomba decides how long to clean based on floor area.
But i think it makes sense, eg. ur kitchen is very oily & sticky, u want Scooba to clean longer despite area is small. Ur living room is not very dirty cos u close windows and aircon 24/7, u don't need Scooba to clean so long.

Since iRobot says 2 full 1L tanks cover 2 x 425 sq ft, u'll need to do direct proportion estimation. A bedroom is typically 100 sq ft, so how much water to put for normal clean? Come'on... u know the answer. That's right! 250ml.

Hi all,

I am currently thinking of buying a Roomba iRobot to help with the vacuuming at home. My place is a typical 100sqm HDB flat.

Would like some help with the following questions:

1) Which are the recommded models? I have looked at the US Roomba website and have shortlisted the 560 and 530. Is the more expensive, Roomba 560, with the scheduling function really worth the higher price?

2) The re-manufactured 530 is 100USD cheaper but I have read some complains on its durability, does anyone here have experience with the re-manufactured units?

3) Are they any local options that are comparable?

Many thanks in advance.

A1) Scheduling function is non-compulsory if u're happy with "Press & go", eg. u start the Roomba, then u leave home. The 560 scheduling function would allow u to set Roomba to auto-start when no one is home.

A2) I've sold many re-manufactured units, they're almost new. Many forumers here can testify to that.

A3) For iRobot products, u can visit my eBay iRobot store: http://shop.ebay.com.sg/uno_bliss/m.html

Any queries just PM me, or email unobliss@yahoo.com.
I've sent u a HWZ PM, pls check PM inbox.:s8:

I have a 560. I schedule my Roomba to vacuum when I am at work, which is the reason why I bought the Roomba - when I come home, I come home to a cleaner house. lol.

If you want to sit at home while watching ur Roomba run, then save the $$$ on 530. But I love my scheduling function.

It's not entirely true that user must sit & watch 530 run, although it's always fun to watch.
I call 530, the "Press & Go" model, u press, then u go... just GOOO!... Don't watch, cos once u watch, u're sent into a trance & u wake up 1 hr later and got 10 miss calls.

One can simply hit the clean button before you leave home for work and the job is still done when you come home. The scheduling function is just an added convenience in any case you forget to run roomba while in a hurry :)

Totally mix up 530 model, now can used with Wireless Command Center to set In Schedule & lighthouse some more ke ke,
Just for fun only, cause I do not have it before, I am quite like my whole white series.
But make sure need to protect on hit in wall or black color furniture to scratch on the white bumper and side shell.

Hmmm, I wonder why my 560 just run out of battery and stoped like 2 meters away from the docking station. Shouldn't it dock by itself when it detect it's battery is running low?

Thanks all for the reply.

Does the 530 go from room to room on its own after starting?

Also my house rooms has this blip/small little "hump" at each door, not sure if it will get stuck there..
