Does just rooting without flashing any custom roms trigger the counter thing for custom kernels?

there is no direct rooting on stock kernel at the moment. Rooting either involves flashing a rooted customized stock kernel or flashing an insecure stock kernel for rooting. either way will increase the counter thingy...

I suggest reading through mynameisjon's post twice before attempting to root. First time you will be rather nervous, but if you follow it through step by step, there should be no issue.

guys....i know that by rooting it voids your warranty . and by unrooting it can i regain my warranty ? or once root = thats it , your warranty is gone . Cos from what i heard , there is a way for samsung to check whether your phone had been rooted before or not ...
You gonna get flamed by some people liao.

No, it's to ROOT your phone, what do you mean by reflash anyway?

I assuming it's flash(not reflash Paiseh..) of firmware cos i saw TS mentioned rooting it will wipe out the existing data.

For my previous phone.. i need to flash the rom that is already rooted..

Also on the warranty issue, anyone tried to root it then flash the stock rom and pass it to the Samsung service centre??

for motorola can.. lol

In the first place we don't even know if our updates will be OTA or the crappy Kies way again...my guess is most probably the 2nd.
