Hi all,

I am trying to understand the DBS Vickers Online website. I am new to investing and my broker can't seem to explain things clearly to me. When I call the hotline they transfer me to the same broker so no use.

I bought shares on DBS Vickers Online and paid for it. It shows the transaction on the website with the status "FILL". Does anyone know what FILL means?

Also, when I look at my account summary it shows zero everywhere. Does DBS Vickers show the shares that have been bought, or only transactions in progress? Do I have to look at my CDP Portfolio to know which shares I own?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Yeah, don't worry - it's always a bit confusing the first time!

1) "FILL" is short for "order filled", which means your order's been completed.

2) The way share custody works in Singapore is that your shares are held at CDP, rather than at your broker (which is the way it works everywhere else in the world).

Once the shares are bought and paid for, they get transferred to your account at CDP, and DBSV can't see them after that point; you'll have to log on to the CDP website and check your holdings that way.

Hope that helps!

Many thanks for this.

I do not have the login to CDP as yet, but I am applying for it right now.

For this specific case of share purchase, I was late in paying the amount. Would an order being "FILL"ed in DBS Vickers Online imply that the contract is completed and that the shares have been paid for successfully?

The reason I ask is that my shares are priced quite well right now and I am anxious to sell. Or else I would not mind waiting to get this CDP login settled.

I don't know, but I don't think so. My guess is that it just means the trade's been executed; the settlement leg is another matter entirely.

i wasn't able to access DBSvickers today morning around 9-11am, and the customer service hotline alway engaged. This is totally unacceptable even if there was a market crash.
The system should be equipped to handle emergencies and not fail customers at the most crucial time.
I am extremely disgusted and frustrated by what happened this morning.

Did you request for 2R devices? Without it you can't trade. It was used to further enhance the security.;)

Dunno if its too late to help,

but 'Filled' just means order executed. Payment is never automatic unless you have a Giro or similar agreement with the firm.

Either way, by trade date + 3 you should have received a bill for contract settlement. If you have any problems at all you should call your broker and make sure he settle them.

its in his interest to do so because if you default etc its his backside that will kena tear. of cos.. dont sabo la...

Hello! I have a few qns hope someone can help! First time...

1. What is the difference between Sell and Sell Contra?

2.Lets say if I bought 3 lots of share on company ABC on friday, and I want to sell it on following Monday, how should I sell it? Sell or Sell Contra?

3. After the stock settled and transferred to cdp account, how do I sell the stock? Using Sell or Sell Contra?

4. When you buy a stock using cash acc, does it count as contra? cos i realized i have not topped up the acc but could buy the share.

Thanks in adv!!
