theres 2 ways to solve it

1) enable qos, the upload will go to around 25mbps but the download will go down abit

2) call in to upgrade the gateway's firmware from v21 to v23

thanks man !! called to upgrade the firmware

my new speed :s12::s12:

i not talking about the lan cable.

i talking about that the cable that connects the TP to the ONT. i think it is the fibre optic cable or something.

not thinking of getting homeplugs cos too much uncertainty. my house is a hdb flat built in 1989 and in recent years the power will always trip every few months.

Oh that is call the Fibre Patch Cord. The standard length is 3m provided by Nucleus Connect.

But not recommended to lay that because the cable itself is too fragile, some turns around your corner of your home will "break" off the connection. Its about 2-3mm in thickness only.

hello ahwise, i just signed up for M1 fibre 100mbs during the recent IT fair.

my question now is, i've added another 2$ for the land-line thingy, but i would also wish to put in my own router for wireless connection for my house.

is that possible? will adding another router mess up the land-line connection or worst, the internet connection?

thanks in advance

haiz... i understand that the wireless speed that manufacturers claim on their products is based on the most ideal environment but this is ridiculous...

on cable i can get 98mbps for download but at a wireless distance of slightly less than 30cm, the speed drops to just under 50mbps.

if the distance is a few meters or behind a wall then still understandable but the laptop and wireless router are practically side by side and touching each other.

my laptop on wireless-n 150mbps and my wireless router on wireless-n 300mbps.

will changing the wireless router's antenna to a longer one help?

Hmmm i doubt it make any difference.. I guess it may be due to some settings etc, sorry my networking not that powerful to advise on it :o

You can connect your router to the RG via the LAN port, login to the RG admin page and disable the Wireless in RG. You can refer to my 1st/2nd post on the instruction on how to access. Its ok to setup this way..

How is your fibre broadband? Is it stable?

still got 2 weeks to activate... provided no delay or unstable connection problem...

Standby your laptop or PC. Try to plug in immediately the Nucleus Connect says ready! Becoz they will leave once its done

I will not be at home while they came and fix it... if got problem I call them to check...any charges?

thanks

Hi guys, just got fibre bb 100MBPs up yesterday and did several speedtest. To my dismay, I was only getting dl speed of around 60 mbps and ul speed of around 2 mbps. So I followed the advice given in the earlier posts to call up M1 to ask them to upgrade the firmware to v23. I just did another speedtest and the dl speed was 70mbps and ul speed was 16 mbps... Is that the best I can get out of fibre bb or are there some other ways to increase the dl and ul speed? I am using wired connection when doing the speedtest. :s12:

You connecting direct to the RG or via another router?
Take note that speedtest using different browser gives different speed.

IE uses activeX, chrome uses flash.

Check if you got firewall enabled on your system.

My connection is direct from comp to Hwawei and I use chrome browser for the speedtest. Firewall for hwawei is set as standard while default firewall settings for my antivirus program.

70Mbps is very good result already. I went to M1 Paragon to try it out with their machine and do speed test there. I notice that for Singapore server it is only 70+Mbps. I did speed test for Hong Kong, Japan and USA, all very slow and with very high ping of 200ms+. I am still considering Fibre.

Can you share your Hong Kong, Japan and USA server speed test result?
