@q w e r t ii, do everyone go airborne when you drive your car :D. I pump 235 and was already felling bumpy ride.
If use Caltex 95, i can hit 500Km with 40L (but Esso got 18% discount). I remember i even got 550+ in first year.
This is first hand car bought in DEC 2008 from c&c.

i prefer a bumpy ride, gives more sporty feeling :o anyway i'm on lowered springs so it doesnt really matter for me

anyway, you might want to try throttle body cleaning, because dirt can accumulate there over years of driving.

Throttle body cleaning will not help in FC but idling will be smoother. Sometime when auto car just stalled when stopping at traffic, the problem is throttle plate sticking.

that auto version versus manual will set your FC back by about 1km/l. manual is usually about 12.5km/l. On the manual it makes little difference whether i drive it hard or gentle.

a good engine oil to use is Preston synthetic. It improves the FC.
pressure for that lancer, you can set to about 250~260Kpa. more bumpy but slightly better fuel FC.

There's a program on discovery channel - Myth busters that did a good test on FC versus tire pressure. over inflation's gain on FC is marginally small. whereas under inflation penalizes the FC by as much as 1x% ( if i recall correctly). their test should be the good benchmark. those guys are scientifically excellent.

I think lancers all around those kind of FC? Even those very light footed should get around 13km/l at best. TS what are you expecting?

If you go do all sorts of funny things with cold hard cash even if it ends up giving you 12km/l also not much of a difference in the long term. Unless you want to change car, close 1 eye and enjoy bah.

I thought that for a stock Auto Lancer GLX, that FC still falls within the normal range. 11-12km/L is quite ok.

11-12km/l are avg but can be improved just by doing a few checks or oil choice.

Hi Guys,

I've gotten a 2005 GLX recently and my FC is around 10.9/L to 11.2/L. I've pumped petrol 3 times so far and those FCs are from my calculations.

Few things to ask :
1. Can anyone advise me whats the recommended PSI for the tyres all round? Some say 34-26 PSI, but whats that when converted to that 3-digit figure?
2. There several spots where the paint had come off, was thinking of buying paint and DIY. Any good recommendations?
3. The car is now on 15" rims, how would I know whats the max size of rims this car can accommodate?
4. Also, how will using a bigger rim/wheels impact the FC and comfort, if any?

Thanks.

1) i think glx quite light, pump 230kpa should be fine
2) dun waste money, 2+ more yrs can scrap liao
4) bigger rim will affect FC but not comfort, tyre do affect comfort

40l for 420-430 is quite bad considering its all stock.

anyway bigger rims will affect FC and when u change tyres it will impact yr wallet.

try this for 1 tank and feedback again:

when moving off from stationary, try to every time step abit more to 2500rpm to accelerate faster to reach cruising speed. It works for some cars as optimal speed is achieved faster and save fuel.:o

you can try changing to 15" aftermarket rims to shed some unsprung weight, at the same time give your car a new look. :o
