there's a heart shape measurement on my blog:s12: Problem with heart shapes is that it's performance is one of the most under performing in terms of brilliance that you really need to focus on getting a nicely cut one. L/W ratio's are extremely important, what you're looking on that list are rather oddly shaped hearts, unless of course you'd like a really fat or really long heart:s12:

thanks for your quick response.

L/W ratio is impt i agree. I read from website ideally get a 0.9-1 ratio heart shape.
Apart from heart what other cut is better in terms of brilliance for my type of budget from 0.5-0.7ct ?

Hihi! Haha that's true, I spent 2 weeks went to everywhere, wrote emails to the internet vendors too. I was interested in fancy shapes early this year because my gf wanted something special, but the problem is the lack of brilliance is very very obvious, so bo pian i was set on round hearts and arrows not ready to spend my money on something that looks like glass... although it's much cheaper

Later learned about other rare shapes that has hearts and arrows, but you can't get them locally
(1 thing i learned is that, you can't but just by certificate alone). It's like shopping in the dark. When you start seeing more diamonds, you will notice that besides brilliance(use idealscope) , symmetry also is an important factor, 99% of the time when you see a round hearts and arrows, you will notice the hearts abit wrong here and there, that affects the arrows too, the arrows in the end also twisted turned in some weird directions... it's a big turnoff when you want to look for a perfect diamond for your SO and when you're looking at the diamond, you see imperfections.

THEN i realized that singapore have our own vendor that brings in premium cuts like cushion brellia and angel cut hearts and arrows, lol made life alot easier for me already. so I get best of both worlds of a special shape and H&A brilliance.

if consider price against symmetry/brilliance/whiteness i'll rank something like that:

1.) Cushion Brellia by JP
2.) Solasfera by JP (i think very close fight with brellia)
3.) Super ideal by JP / ACA by whiteflash (i don't dare to buy online but i know alot of bro's here will)
4.) Angel cut by JP
5.) Octavia by GoG (this is an alternate to asscher cut if you like the glassy look)
6.)Brilliant Lady21 by JP / Star 129 by GoG
7.)BlueNile Signature Round / James Allen true hearts
11.) Hearts on Fire / Destinee (pricing is absurd against quality)
8.) Normal Rounds
9.) Normal Princess or radiant
10.) Normal Cushion
11.) Other shapes like hearts/ovals/emeralds

Have you gone to retail shops to see their heart shape diamonds before? You should see some of them and pay attention to the shape. I've seen some very very ugly heart shapes before.. the bottom part is like an inverted triangle and the top parts are like 2 "lup lup" semi-circles. It looks very weird.. Literally like a fusion of 2 semi-circles and a triangle. When it comes to fancy shapes, I think it's even more important to see the diamond yourself, before you buy.

Hi thanks for your advice
I dont have a generous budget to play around. When I went to those retailers to shop around, I find the pricing is really absurd....esp Destinee but happened that Destinee is the most ideal cut.
What can 3.5k fetch in JP?
Seriously I dont even dare to step in those jeweler shop with my humble budget lo... thats the reason why I'm considering Bluenile..

Hmmm i bought my 0.48ca E VVS1 round + ring @ 4.1k in June. 3.5k probably can get u a 0.43-0.44 with similar stat? or if u forgo the clarity or colour u can get a similar size to mine.

As you can see, $3.5k can still fetch you something nice from JP :)
Not to mention, their diamonds are probably of better quality than Destinee =:p

If I want a custom design for the setting in JP, will there be extra charges?

Hi all,

After reading so much on proposal rings, I have some questions to ask all the experts here...
First of all i dont have much budget to spulge.
I went around those retail brands and find all the stones are grossly overpriced for the brand.

I'm pretty much interested on buying loose stones online.
Tried looking at Bluenile and it seems reliable.

Long story short, I was thinking of getting a heartshaped diamond for its look. Some of the stones i shortlisted:

Questions:

1) Is it reliable to get from Bluenile?
2) Which stone above is the best value for $ considered that its a fancy cut (heartshape)?
3) Should I do my setting with bluenile also?
4) Any other advice?

Hope it wouldnt exceed $3.5k all in...
I'm a peasant :D

I got my heart shaped diamond from JP.. including side diamonds + settings..

somwehere around ya budget ^^ further more, my heart shaped diamond is of a nice heart shape oh not like those u see in L&C weird shaped or loped sided..

Should try rendering with pink diamonds to see whether it looks better?

the diamonds on the curve may not be protruding into flesh so might be interesting. i mean JP would have recommended anyways.

very unique design..never seen that one before

Maybe about 10% higher than their super ideals, but they have so limited stock of Solasfera.. They only have it in 1ct+ the last time I was there..
