Anyone got any advise for F6 lecturer ?
Kaplan got Tommy Yee and Joanna. Anyone under their classes before, how was their teaching?

from what i heard, tommy yee worked in tax authorities in singapore before. He is really good for u to understand the concept and how it should be and quite easy to follow his lecturing!!!

Hi, I have cleared f1 f2 f3cbe f4pbe this sem. I have signed up for f6 f7 f9. am contemplating whether to take up one more to make it another 4papers next sem. which do you suggest me in taking? f5 or f8?

Can u manage? If ure a theory person, f8 is a safer bet. Since it oso has links to f7 on FRS standards eg provision n contingents frs37 or frs10 events after bal sheet which can be linked to subsequent events hence the effect on audit report. Something like that. F5 on the other hand is independent of the other f papers. Maybe small parts like sensitivity analysis or probabilities is linked to f9.

Andy is the lecturer to go for P3. He is really really kind, well prepared for lectures and he expects you to do likewise. Nothing bad to say about him. He is a teacher more than a lecturer, very responsible.

I am not sure about P1 because i went to Shermeen who is good (i enjoyed her lectures very much and she is very approachable) but her lectures are not that exam focus. Maybe you should go to Andy too. He is the BEST lecturer anyone can ask for.

Is he really that good? ._. Hw much did he pay u? Haha jk.

I did my F1 with Andy last sem, he is good only if you attend classes regularly. He prepares notes and give weekly tests on past lectures and prepare you for the exam. Meaning week 2, you will have a test covering lesson 1 and week 3 test covering lesson 1 and 2... so indirectly forcing you to revise throughout the full 4 mths and not burning last min midnight oil.

A very delicate lecturer who really go the extra miles for his student. But do note, he appreciate the same effort from his student and do not like student to slack and leech on his notes. He dislike student to come and take the notes and leave after the break. If you are sincere and genuine about your study, I believe he will be the right lecturer for you. :s12:

Yes, he paid me in abundance of qualities as a great teacher. :)

1. mind map prepared for each chapter
2. weekly quiz;
3. going thru 1 PYQ almost weekly or alternate week;
4. offering to mark essay if you wish to do and giving constructive remarks for you to improve;
5. constant nagging (this one is not my cup of tea but some might like/need it, LOL);
6. personally went thru articles in Student Accountant and then gave us a copy each;
7. went thru with us in depth on those new areas in sllybus (which i needed so badly because I cannot remember - costing/regression/correlation etc);

To sum up, he has prepared everyone of us very well for the exam.

And if I fail my P3, I would say it is my fault, not his.

Just a check, what's the weightage in term of calculation and theory for F6? 50/50? Also Yvonne seems not available under LSBF 2012 lecturer list so the next best alternative is Tommy?:s22:

Hmmm so if I apply for LSBF she wouldn't teach till Feb? Anyway, I'll try call LSBF and find out.... Sorry for the venting my anger.. really pissed for today's F3! Just can't get over it although is my last paper for this sem. :(

I suggest you sign up for F7 Jan class and F6 Feb class (make sure it will be Yvonne if you like her). Then put in lots of effort in F7 from Jan to Feb. Then when F6 classes start in Feb, put in more effort in F6 at the same time not neglecting F7. Just suggesting, might or might not work.... You can also ask around for Yvonne's F6 notes from those who had attended her classes before, read up first, so no need to do so much catch up in Feb.

Anyway, don't think of your F3 anymore. Cannot do anything over spilled milk. I too don't want to think of my P3. I did what I could, leave everything to the marker now. Chill out and prepare to move on to your next paper(s).

Good luck to you. :)

Thanks man, let our "3s" (P and F) work themselves out.

I never attended any Yvonne's class just that she is kinda quoted quite often. Is not a 100% must for me to go for her classes, just more preferred.

Feb intake will have 4 weeks of lesson less? and what's the weightage of F6 in terms of calculation and theory?

Yvonne Goh Garden Leave !!!!!!

hello peeps!

Im very confused about the Yvonne Goh scenario now!

LSBF appears to be unwilling to return my emails and pick up my calls. Their service is terrible I must add !!

For all we know, Yvonne Goh is only available around/after February. So i'm wondering if i should sign up for LSBF F6 paper first(to get the early-bird discount), and then transfer over to Yvonne Goh's class when she starts her class.

Or is there an option that I can choose Yvonne Goh's class? Following which i might miss out on the early bird considering the fact that LSBF refuses to release any information ! The early bird discount ends next Wed, and I will be out of town from Mon - Thurs. FML i know. haha

Anybody can give me any suggestions?
I'm really lost!!

Thanks alot !

According to LSBF, there is a March intake for F6 and the class schedule states that there will be 2 sessions per week (Mon and Wed). The number of lessons is the same as the one starting in Jan. But it'd probably be a rush job, no?

I see. That will sound like a bad idea. Maybe should go to Tommy Yee then. One of my Kaplan friends said that he is quite good. Never been to his class, cannot vouch for that...

I'm thinking of Tommy Yee too. So far there's no bad reviews so should be okay lah, I hope.

I would recommend you to take F5 especially if you are damn sure taking up F6, F7 and F9. IMHO, it is too many papers to handle.

F8 is more application than knowledge type paper. It is true that there is some financial reporting standards from F7 to be applied in F8for particular scenarios. There is always time when I am unsure whether my answers are ok enough for each F8 past year questions. It is fairly ok to learn but difficult to answer the qusetions.
