Hi everyone, i got a VA at sembawang naval camp which i've learnt is for the NDU.

Anyone is/was from the NDU and can share some information of being enlisted there?

1. I learnt that the first 5/6 months will be super-xiong which includes the infamous hell-week, but after that(provided you passed the phrase) can stay-out everyday? Is it true?

2. If you are dropped out from the beginning phrase and did not pass the NDU graduation, where will you be posted? I heard you will be posted to other positions within the sembawang naval camp, if this is true, what kind of positions would it be?

3. What will be the average everyday main training activities you will be doing after the super-xiong beginning phrase?

I would be very much appreciated if any ex/current NDU guys can help me on these questions. Thanks in advance. :)

I can only confirm the stay out everyday, which is a no. My best kaki is currently in NDU and I only see him booking out in weekends, sometimes booking out and needing to report on the very next day, much like each and every other normal NSF.

How long has he been in NDU? Cause i heard only after you completed the first 5-6 months of beginning training pharse, only then you can stay-out on weekdays.

Also, from what you know, did he like or regretted the decision to join NDU?

Thanks alot and appreciate your help. :)

May I know how did you come to the conclusion that it will be stay out? Inference based on what evidence?

That information is based on my father's friend's son who is from NDU and he apparently can stay-out on weekdays after the completion of the 5-6 months of NDU ''graduation phrase''. I don't directly know him or ask him before.

Edit: Apparently, only a certain percentage of ''top outstanding'' guys selected from the NDU cohort can stay-out on weekdays after the graduation phrase.

He's 19,just like me,but is the previous JC enhance batch,so meaning he's around a year or a year plus in NDU? Even so,I only get to see him on weekend when we play futsal. Sometimes,he don't even get to book out to join us. :(

No he didn't regret, still as easy going and like to TCSS just like how I used to know him.

But he is physically monstrous, being able to run 9 flat for 2.4km and get NDU gold(something like IPPT). But that,of course is after he went through a few months of training. :D

My training buddy is at NDU now.

Basically before you pass out as a diver, you can only book out on weekend. So friday out then sunday in. The training is roughly 6months. Last week is hell week, you will not get much sleep for hell week. Therefore if you endure half way and you give up will be wasted.

2) I not sure of this.

3) Need to clear a lot swimming test ( need to hit timing require if can book out early) including sea swim. Depend on instructor's mood, if he not happy I heard my friend say the hammering can last quite long.

4) For your info: After pass out as diver you will separate into 2 group ( UDG, CDG). The majority ( UDG) stay in. Another group ( CDG) only like 5/6 people, can book out everyday. My friend VA super on and the officer put high recommended. First few month was hell for him. Luckily before enlisting he train ( swim, run) with me everyday. Hope you can get to wear the blue t shirt with naval diver behind. =D

From what i heard, they put alot more emphasis on your psychological factors/how enthusiastic you are rather than physical factors or how well you swim. From the people i heard that got into NDU, most cant swim at all before they enlist.

yeah, likewise for CDO. I told the LTA that interviewed me: 'you want me swim, can. But the thing is I don't know how to tread water.' And he said ok.
So that more or less shows that they don't really place alot of emphasis on physical during the VA. :s8:

Not really. I think they look at your personality and mentality more. Cause physical they can train.
