@gixxerfied,

I actually wanted to used those that u have listed in post #5 but when i was reading on the franco kernel, it said that it works for 4.0.3 & 4.0.4 and not lower version,

It looks like there are very few custom for 4.0.2 thats why i thought it is better to upgrade the custom to 4.0.3 before find a custom.

Is nandroid backup an app in market that i need to download and run it on my phone ?

Thks again.

There are custom kernel for 4.0.2 also, such as james bond kernel [KERNEL][4.0.2][4.0.3][GSM-LTE/CDMA] ⇒☆Jame Bond☆ cpu/gpu overclock + UV v2.1 - xda-developers,
fugumod kernel [KERNEL][GPL] FuguMod kernel (linux 3.0.22, stable and secure) - xda-developers, and this [Kernel][GSM][3.0.21] ICS4.0.1/2/3/UV,GPU+CPU OC,CIFS,FIOPS,OTG(v013) [Feb-18] - xda-developers.

nandroid backup is backup that is usually done in custom recovery such as CWM

Pardon me for asking so many questions .

I was under the impression that for nexus i can upgrade my stock android version 4.0.2 to any custom rom even those for ICS 4.0.3 and i hope i am not wrong.

Please dont tell me that i neee upgrade stock version 4.0.2 to offical 4.0.3 1st before i can flash custom rom for version 4.0.3.

As for nanroid backup, is it the app ROM manager that can be fpund in Market.

I also encountered problem with registering my credit card for Market as it keep prompting me wrong card info so i skip it, now how to register another card.

Thks.

1) No, you dont have to upgrade to 4.0.3(Anyway, official is still 4.0.2 while 4.0.3 is beta) inorder to flash to custom roms which is based on 4.0.3. If you're gonna flash let's say AOKP which is build from 4.0.3, after flashing ur info will show as 4.0.3

2) Nt sure about rom manager cos nv use that but once u have CWM flash to your phone, nandroid can be perform at recovery level

Tried CM9 25 Feb nightly for a couple of minutes, still limited customisation options at the moment. Going back to AOKP, just nice #26 out.

hi all, got a question, so do i need to update to 4.0.3 to install akop? if so, how do i go about installing? i'm using the gnex toolkit, so i just flash to the stock 4.0.3? or i can just go ahead without updating?

also, how do i go about installing basebands and custom kernels? or it just a .img file that can be flashed from the toolkit?

See above post.Wonder if anyone bothers to read...

Baseband and kernels can be flash using the same method in which you flash ur ROM in CWM..Both will come as a zip file..

my first time.. sorry la, not too clear about what it all stands for, anyway how to make nandroid backup ah? and if i never make.. i should be able to find a stock rom to reflash back if i need to send in for repair right? (cos if i'm not wrong.. nandroid is for backing up the rom? and i backed up with the cwm before flashing.. is that it?)

i used the gnex toolkit for backup of my apps and when i restore the apps, it keeps giving the acore process has stopped working.. how ah? does it mean i can't restore with that?

also..any good apps to recommend after rooting besides the ones on the first page? thanks!

1) NANDROID can be performed in CWM(Backup & Restore). Yes, create a backup everytime u flash the ROM.. Incase anything goes wrong, you can restore back

2) Not sure cos i dont backup my apps..Clean installation for me always after flashing the ROM.. Rem to install GApps after u flash the ROM in..Your issue might have something to do with this. Try reinstalling apps manually..

3) Rooting gives u the ability to flash boot animation, kernel, baseband, circlesmod, softkeys mod.. Other than that, most apps dont require rooting.

Yeah.. managed to solve it but I occasionally receive rom control has stopped working now.. any experience with this? You think it would help if I manually installed all the gapps?

Oh ya another qns! If I backed up the rom in cwm how do I see it? Cost just now when I looked into the internal storage I couldn't find anything? Thanks!

1) Nv had much issue with Rom control but definitely nt recommended to perform a apps by apps installation from GApps..What i mean is

- Flash ROM
- Flash GApps
- Reboot
- Then search for those Apps which you've previously install from Marketplace

2) When plug in to comp via USB, go into Internal Storage -> Clockworkmod -> Backup

* Dont change the folder name of that backup. Once u change, MD5 checksum will be wrong and wont beable to use that backup until you place back the correct folder name

I download Franco Kernel Updater from Marketplace($2.39)...Very gd app..Alternatively, you can probably change inside

ROM Control > Performance > Scaling Governor
