I'm waiting for Foscam FI8910W (Black) Wireless IP Camera coming to Singapore.

It has embedded IR-Cut filter as well as a built in network video recording system.

But doesn't know how much ..

IP CAM FOSCAM

HI
Perhaps I can answer your question.

I have just bought a foscam FI8918W and am using the 2wire 2701.
You will have no issue getting both to work.

Cheers

Dear all ipcam experts,

I am looking to purchase either Foscam FI8918W or VStarcam H6837WI. I am using the default free router from Singtel, 2wire 2701HGV-E Modem. I heard that there is some issues configuring the ipcams with this router.

Is that true? Do i need to buy a new router for the ipcam? If true, what are the other cams that can be used with 2wire 2701HGV-E Modem?

Thanks for the advises!

Spotted news on the FI8910W as well and would love more reviews on its performance. Am guessing it will sell in Singapore for around $170....

I'm more keen on the FI8608W. IR capable, pan-and-tilt, wireless N and H.264. What more to ask? Okay.. maybe optical zoom. :)

No optical zoom for FI8608W. Its just another FI8910W casing but on H.264, btw if with optical zoom, camera sure send for RMA more often... LOLz

looks like don't have ... but what so good abt h.264 when the color is not accurate ?

Foscam FI8910W Wireless IP Camera

Err, this camera's upgrade is as follows compared to FI8918W

1. Totally changed casing concept.
2. IR-CUT Filter
3. Wireless-N

Other than that, its just another MJPEG camera, so... Why buy a MJPEG
camera when top up a bit can get a H.264 camera?

:D

In USD99 maybe can get free shipping.

I've tried asking for free shipping, end up still have to pay, I used to buy
from foscam.us but the RMA is a real hassle, shipping fee, etc ain't worth it.
That's why end up, I buy from local distributor MARIX.

I really do not mind paying more for the amount of time they spent on testing the units, especially on the area which they tested the various NAS on the market and confirmed that recording is possible on both QNAP &
SYNOLOGY NAS.

I am not familiar with IP camera , please give me some advice.

My purposes is to see my baby when I am at work.
Budget is less then $200.

Is Foscam FI8910W easy to install? Can view from Iphone?
And, able to record the video in iphone?
I am using Singtel wireless modem.

Saw vpost is selling at USD94. Is this price reasonable?

Yes! U can't get that price here. But RMA wise, remember, you need to
send back to the overseas reseller. Take that into consideration.

Don't think optical zoom will increase RMA rates leh. I have a LevelONe WCS-2040 and a Dlink DCS-6620G (same OEM), with 10x optical zoom. Been using it for a few years already.

Oic, cos the guy I knew who had his DCS-6620G 4 times in the first year due to him pan/tilt and zooming in and out daily checking on his maid and baby. What else he zoom in to see, I really dun know... LOLz..

Dlink DCS-932L

First of all, thanks to all those who have contributed to this thread, and especially to Dr Archer for starting it, there's a lot of good information here.

I wanted infrared or nightvision capability, so I got the SMC camera. But for the life of me, I could not get pictures transmitted over the internet (I have an Asus RT-N56U) ... even after setting up port forwarding, dynamic DNS, etc.

At the last IT show, I bought a Dlink DCS-932L ($129 show price, a veritable bargain IMHO), and let me tell you, the setup's a breeze! I'm not aware of the risk going through the "cloud" (i.e. through a Dlink server), but with the myDlink Lite app, I was up and going in minutes.

I'm still going to try to get the SMC to work, but for newbies and those who just can't be bothered fiddling with settings, etc, this is a wonderful, painless entry into the word of IP cameras.

I'm going to get a DCS-5230L to play with next, it's also "myDlink" cloud-capable.

Can I view remotely IP camera when used with My republic fibre plans?

Hi,

I am looking to set up a IP camera at home, most likely a Dlink product (was told easy to set up and idiot/non techie proof) or any other IP camera. I have My republic fibre plan.

My republic says they have private IP address, so IP cameras view by remote will not work, so need to apply for a static IP address from them.

Dlink says their product will work even with private IP address to view remotely

I am super confused. Can anyone here provide a answer/advise on whether I can use a IP camera with My republic and view it remotely? (ie using handphone or notebook via internet?). Is anyone here using a Dlink IP camera with My republic fibre connection?

Thank you for any help/replies.
