Question is how much u willing to pay for the lenses?

Nikon seecoat 1.74 asp
Carl Zeiss 1.74 asp @ $560

Hoya 1.74 bi-asp @ $1000
Tokai 1.76 asp @ $540
Tokai 1.76 bi-asp @ $720.

Crizal and American optics only have 1.74 asp @ $480

so in ur case, nikon, zeiss or tokai are your best options. tokai 1.76 bi-asp being the thinnest. nobody benchmarked the weight so i cant comment. from my experiences, crizal are slightly heavier and thicker den nikon at same prescription ( sph -7.50 )

interesting info too
good to know

Hi all,

I'm going to enter army soon.

Can recommend me on the type of lens (or even frame) that I should be getting ?

Will army allow transition lens ?

Please advise.

dun get transitions for bmt...only do it once you're settled in unit
bmt won't even allow u to have any fancy specs, only allow those plastics black full frame specs

just ask around those specs shops, they'll have a selection for u to choose from

ither u go lasik if can correct your high power
or
look for the best 1.74 lens u can afford
and Ti frame or ultra light weight frames lor
i also got a high power too
i go for 1.74 and light weight frames

even transition lens now got 1.74 too

There is Implantable contact lens option which do not do cutting to your eyes too and will cut cost for specs of any.

hi All,

my job requires me staring at laptop for whole day. are there any specialized glasses to prevent/reduce eye fatigue./strain?
everyday after work my eyes can hardly open!

I went to optician, they recommend me $120 hard coating 'eimi' coating or sth(lens only), but I do not need prescription.. so wondering if you guys that will help?

btw anyone here knows how to balance out your specs?
one side of my specs seems higher than the other when I lay it out on a table

I used the method the optician taught me similar to what I saw on the net...to bend the temple
however after putting it on, or if I close/open it..... later it'll go back to being unbalanced....any permanent solution?

you have to bend it a lot in order for it to retain the shape permanently BUT this will also means that you risk spoiling your specs. This is my personal experience. I have frames that i have to virtually bend till it almost feel like breaking before the shape can be permanently retained. So the BEST permanent solution is to NOT be bothered by the imbalance of your specs. In fact your head & ears & nose may not be that perfectly balanced as well. SO, Just wear it, be happy with your specs, accept it as it is, dont let it be a pschological thorn & if it bothers you, remember nextime don look at your frame when you are not wearing it. That way you will find comfort. Once you get used to not thinking abt it, it will not become a problem anymore.

decent anti reflection lenses will do. try to go for abit brands. at least crizal advance 1.5 @ $110, hoya NL 1.5 @ $120 or if u willing, carl zeiss 1.56 @ $160.

those lenses comes in no prescription. there are even ppl who make deskwork/office lenses which cost more.

im trying to look for frames with thicker lines especially at the frame front so as to cover up my face & makes it look smaller. Any advice where i can find? Or what brands?
I know there are alot frames with thick lines at the temple sides but i cant remember there are any that thicker lines on the front.

I also found out something, for those with broad & shorter faces, rectangular frames seem to compliment the face the most. I guess this is by contrast. Since rect is long so makes the face looks less broad & shorter depth so makes the face looks longer.

And since my skin is fairer, black colour or dark lines actually brings out good contrast.

Luxottica bought over.

Ah! Thanks for the update, xiaokaka.

When did Luxottica bought over the Oakley brand in Singapore? A few months back Larrikin was having a sale at the premise at Leng Kee. So that turned out to be a clearance sale?

I believe is entirely bought over. just like Alcon bought over Ciba Vision.

Alcon didn't buy ciba vision. Ciba vision is part of novartis. It is the eye care branch of novartis. Novartis then bought alcon from nestle. And called for merger of ciba vision.

Luxottica bought over.
I thought Lux bought over Oakley many many years ago already even when Larrikin was still their distributor? Or you mean Lux also took over the entire Oakley local distributorship in Singapore?

What is the new policy on Oakley specs in Singapore now? Assuming one bought it in Singapore with official receipts, they used to offer lifetime warranty and then it was changed to just free replacement of the rubber pads?

Not sure if that stands today because if their prices are fixed and the support is not there, I think alot of people will move away from the brand. The quality is also not as good before.
