Hey, im a newbie in gundam modelling and was wondering where i could find tomiya spray paint, a design knife, and recommendations of markers for panel lining.

Thanks in advance.

tamiya spray paint can be obtained from hobby shops such as hobby art gallery, mworkshop, hobbypoint etc. some dept stores sells them as well.

for design knife, do u mean art knife? art knife can get cheapo one from daiso. art supply shops such as art friends will have also. but i think as a newbie, u dun really need one... a cutter and sandpaper is enough

there are gundam markers that are available in hobby shop. alternatively, just get any permanent marker from stationery shops. can try sakura mircon or ZiG

If you're not fond of the idea of traveling to Dhoby Ghaut and just wanna start small first, you can get some selection of Tamiya Spray Can (SGD8.80) and Tamiya Bottle Paint at some Kiddy Palace, such as Causeway Point and Jurong Point, especially since there's a 15% sale for non-member going on. You can also get Tamiya White Primer at some outlet, and most of those which stocks Tamiya paint also sells Tamiya Thin Cement and Tamiya Cement.

Design knife or hobby knife can be purchased at stattionary stores and cutters can be purchased from Comics Connection. Same case with the markers for panel lining and Gundam markers for painting. However, if you can, try to get the Tamiya Panel Line Accent since it's easier to use.

Oops. Shold have read this first... I went to art friend and got a flat white paint for primer and various different color of paint. Also got a design knife and a copic 0.5 marker for panel lining. Didn't know kiddy palace of all places would sell spray paint...

some of the gundam color are similar to normal series, eg blue and cobalt blue
try getting normal ones, less room for error:s22:

ok thanks thanks.

surprisingly, the gundam series' pink colour looks more like vomit colour...:s13:

just had a look at the spray painted parts, there's a slight change in colour tone from dry to touch and after a few hrs

now i know why ppl say MG gundam takes weeks to complete
spent 4-5 days still havent spray finish the first colour for the gn-x and it's just 1 colour, not multi colour or shading.

just now when i did my airbrushing, i noticed tiny dust particles or something (tiny wavy lines, like fine cotton candy streaks) stuck on to the painted pieces waiting to for a 2nd coat. somehow it sticks to first layer of paint and needs to be lightly sanded before it comes off..

dust particles stuck on the paint before it completely dries???

if im not wrong thats not dust. its because ur paint is slightly thicker.. thats why it dries before reaching the part, thus fomring the cotton thingy.. pardon me if im wrong. u can just add abit more thinner to the paint and try again.
