Laser colour AIO:
Looking at similar specs, the following contenders:
- Epson CX17NF ($498 with $50 NTUC voucher)
- Fuji Xerox CM205FW ($609 with $80 voucher)
- Samsung CLX3185FNW ($598 with $80 Taka voucher)
which would be better in terms of print quality and toner prices?
Inclined towards Fuji due to longer warranty for now, but Epson for the price.

Erm cause Epson series is being built by Fuji Xerox. I would skip samsung as u can see from the complains. Epson CX17NF got no wireless, warranty 2 years. Their quality is LED printer so not as sharp and stable as Fuji Xerox SLED. Toner harder to find as challenger, harvey norman never carry. If you dont need wireless u can consider Fuji Xerox CM205F ($579 + $80 ntuc vouchers)

Hi Guys

I've actually written a complaint about the Fuji Xerox M205F
But i'd still recommend it. Weird.

Other than scan quality ( which was subpar, the printer performs admirably

i purchased the Fuji Xerox M205F in 2011, and just purchased the CP105B for its colour capabilities. I was tempted by the other cheaper brands, such as Brother and Samsung, but 2 things stood out in the Fuji Xerox offerings

Length of Warranty ( This covers the head )
The "head" is not built into the toners

Something that is different about laser printers compared to inkjets is that there is

"head" part to the toner ( In Inkjets, think of this as the container with IC chips where u put the ink cartridges onto". Some printers have the head attached to the toner, which makes for high toner refill costs.

Waste Container " Something like a dustbin" for excess toner powder to go into. There is a lifespan for this as well. Eg: 10k - 25k printouts

For comparison purposes
My Canon inkjet, whose head spoilt miraculously just after the warranty period, cost me $85+ to replace. And the printer conked out a few months later. This was not one of the cheaper Canon inkjets but more on the mid level ones. around @$299.

Refill Toners
Check with the Supplier if the refills will pass the Toner "Original" Checks
I usually order mine from Orink coz of the doorstep delivery.
Also, do check the refill vendor's offerings. Mono Printers, it is easy to decide, but for colour toners, the refill vendor's promo usually ask that one purchases the full CMYK set to have a reduced price. Since black is the most used colour, it is reasonable to expect it to finish sooner....

Warranty Service
i'm not sure about other brands but for Fuji Xerox, the repair guys are prompt and they usually come down with a new unit. They have a 1 hour repair service standard. btw
Warranty wise, i'm not one to spend taxi $$$ or carpark $$$ to lug my printer to the repair centre. So, i do appreciate this doorstep service as well.

Just my 2 cents and for the record, I am not employed by any of the printer manufacturers...

Bro, I'm facing the same problem with my Canon Pixma 145. I'm a light user and was aghast to find that my printer had conked out after one ink refill. I was told the chips on my cartridges (both black and colour) were damaged and their replacements cost about $60.
I suspect my printer's ink head could be damaged as well but it's too much of a hassle to have sent it for a diagnostics. Could you recommend a economical but quality all-in-one inkjet printer that
1.copies
2.scans
3.prints photos
(fax unnecessary)
and is cheap to refill. Basically like my old pixma but less sucky? TIA

how is fuji xerox cp205w for a colour laser printer? :s42:
Bought it yesterday, wireless easy to set up. Colour bit looks good enough for me. Try to ask for for the free stack of printing paper at the counter where you collect the NTUC voucher.

Per cartridge prints 1000 page.
K200 has slots for 2 cartridges so can print 2000 pages. If 1 cartridge finishes still can continue printing :)

I think what TT32003 meant was the ink will dry up if u did not print within certain time frame, thus may not hit 2K pages. For laser, it uses toner which can last longer but also more expensive.

U seemed like an expert, want to ask some Qs

1. What is the difference between laser vs SLED printers?

2. I understand that laser uses toner, meaning powder as compared to inkjet which uses ink. What does SLED use for printing?

3. Advantage of laser is that it prints out dry, and on almost any surface. SLED can do that too?

4. The only SLED available in fuji xero brand right?

5. SLED uses how many colours for printing? Hows the long term costs like?
