What are the better thrash bands of today? So far has only heard and liked Evile. Got to know the band thru watching an Earache DVD. Many out there seems to like Machine Head but not my mug of beer tho

newbie,
You have to listen to Machine Head if you interested in thrash.
"The Blackening", "Unto The Locust"

@Uncle Skinheadbanger I think you'f be better off searching for thrash bands back in the 80s. I am not one of those guys that swear by a particular time period, music has moved on, some for the better, some for the worse. But just as there is no better baroque music than that from the early 18th century, there is no thrash like the 80s thrash.

QFT.

Bro, thanks for the recommendation. I have heard but they're not my pint of lager. Still, any metal music is to me more enjoyable than most mainstream music!

Bro, as wat Wanderer-in-Time said, there's no thrash like the 80s thrash. The American big 4 of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, the Teutonic big 3 of Sodom, Kreator and Destruction, throw in some Overkill, Exodus, Testament, Holy Moses, Whiplash, Sacred Reich, Rage, Exumer, Exhorder and Tankard and alot of other bands and you have the classic thrash metal the way it should be..

Absolutely agree. Have been buying the old thrash stuff lately incl Slayer's The Vinyl Conflict 10 discs box set. Oh, and Kreator's latest, Phantom AntiChrist is awesome btw!

Tastes Like Kevin Bacon - iwrestledabearonce

Wikipedia says they're avant-garde but really I think they're just deathcore with massive grind influences (plus random eccentricities)

Apologies if this has been posted before, haven't been on here in a while :p

iwretledabearonce is just... awesome! its like one of those zany mix of influences that come together quite well. For a long time (through the late 90s), I had despaired for the metal scene, but I think deathcore has reinvented that spirit of eloquent-facemelt-satirical-chainsaw skullduggery. Do you think 200 years from now, music schools will be notating Maiden songs and forcing them onto bored kids? :s8:
