Hi,

Does anyone have any workshop to recommend that sell original brake pads for honda civic 1.6?

I wish to use back the same brand and type of brake pads.

The pads sold by kah currently for front at $190 and for rear at $170 exclude labour charge.

Another workshop riverview auto that i have found charged for front at $100 and for rear at $70 to $80 and labour charge between $40 to $50.

Are the prices provided by this workshop reasonable?

The work shop has mentioned that there are alot variants of the brake pads ( like quality wise ) on the market but as far as i can remember kah work shop has told me that there are only 1 type of brake pad for civic.

Are there something i need to be aware of? Thank you for your advice.

Yes. My stock pads r wearing out. Left ard 10 to 20% mre. Last me abt 5 yrs - 585k mileage.

Hence need to change nw. Will prefer to buy original one since pads n tyres r important components of safety.

Like that meaning Brembos are lousy? Tyres such as CSC5, Michelin's PS3 are lousy - since they ain't stock? :s8:

only taxi clock this kind of mileage.

585,000 km over 5 years = more than 320 km per day!

Think engine chui liaoz lah! :s13:

You can try Pek Tiong Auto at Yishun Industrial park A. Google for the number. Tell Mr Ang that you want only original Honda brake pads to be installed and ask him for quote. If you are happy with the quote, go down and see him.

For tyres, you don't need original Honda tyres. Any good branded tyre that matches your current tyre specs will be ok (Check the car manual for the right wheel specs) - look for something like 195/60/15 in the tyre section of the manual.

Expensive Quiet tyres - Turanza GR90, Yokohama Advan DB (Around $140 - $170)

Cheaper Quiet tyres - Turanza AR10, Yokohama Earth 1 (I think Around $95 - $120)

I have no experience with non-Japanese branded tyres. So, cannot comment. Currently on GR90s. These are much quieter and have better road grip than AR10.

Whether it's 585k or 58.5k for 5 years is unbelievable. Can't be so over-used or under-used.

My mileage is 122k for 4 years and only then agent workshop changed front brake pads for me.

That's cheap. More than 20 years ago, I diy and bought a pair of honda front brake pads already cost me $90, excluding brake oil.
