Think it is about time to get in...since no one think it is a good counter
get in :)

good luck :)

I do think it's a good counter.. just that now's not the time.

I'll find an opportune time to buy to average out my gf's 1.90 stuck lots

i remember the same negative sentiments when genting was trading less than a penny. :s13:

my advice is if you dont have the patience to hold for 3 to 5 years, then you better stay away from genting. it is a very cyclical stock. gaming stocks are down because of fear in the slowdown of the economy.

3-5 years to see what kind of return from current price?

If it is only a little, better to put money elsewhere.

Wait for consolidation or a base or uptrend confirmation before you buy.

I agree, and I have given up on genting, taking a hit.

3 to 5 years is the target period i am willing to hold for high beta and growth stocks. im looking for >> 30% kind of returns for such stocks within that period. of course if good returns can be achieved in shorter period of time, then i will sell.

For example, i accumulated genting at 70 cents before. then it plunged 50%. i didnt panic and my patience paid off when i sold at $$1.80.

Now im looking to buy back genting at cheap prices. :)

I thought gaming stocks should do well during periods of uncertainty since people will gamble more often?

If people are losing jobs and payday is not guaranteed, where to find gamblers except those that are addicted

there is an article by straits times sometimes back which says that a bad economy does not necessary means that ppl will gamble less.. there might even be a possibly that some will gamble even more...

but such behavior is unlikely to imrpove genting's revenue, because bulk of the revenue does not come from gaming alone... and during a downturn ppl will most likely cut down on other recreational activities offered by genting... and much of the revenue is probably also contributed by tourist who will most likely decline if the global economy do badly.

Not my statement, I was told as much by a senior businessman.

Well if you consider that LVS went to almost $3, his statement doesn't make sense.

Anyone knows why Genting is being short by everyone since June?

I don't read the news. I follow the smart money and technicals. Smart money over last 2 days is positive (10.3 mil vs 9.5 mil). Major pos divergence + support level = super bottom buy.

yes, that's what they are trying to imply...

but remember that analysts are paid to write what people want... so their analysis may be biased and not fully reflect the whole picture..

caveat emptor

I know some people think they are overpaying for the Echo acquisition, but it still doesn't explain why the stock price keeps falling slow, but surely.

This really strange behaviour, I'm concerned that there's something I'm not aware of.

At current price, it's trading at 52 week low and 16.8x PE LTM.

are u vested?

the longer a stock is in a trend (be it up or down), the stronger it becomes, and the harder it is to "change direction"

just look at apple, starhub, Shanghai exchange for example
