Just got my lens from Pearl's Optical at JP. Made a Hoya HL Phoenix 1.53 which cost $180 and used back my existing frame. No card on the lenses is being provided, however on both the lenses, I can see the symbol (-)

I believe the coating on the Hoya HL Phoenix 1.53 is not SFT right?

For my lenses, Right side is SPH: -1.25, Cyl: -2.00. Left side is SPH -1.25, Cyl -1.00.

Is Hoya HL Phoenix range better than Crizal's?

The salesperson was recommending me between Crizal air wear and Hoya HL Phoenix and I went for the latter as wanted to try out Hoya lenses. Whether of its better than Crizal, I won't be able to comment, perhaps other bros could share their views. Initially wanted to go for Hoya Nulux 1.5 but was told that it's no longer available.

I am using Hoya HL Phoenix 1.53, it is not SFT. No card on the lenses is being provided, can see the (-) on one lens. The other lens the logo might just happen to be cut off.

Notice the Zeiss logo on both lens are not 'in line' when i place on a horizontal surface, is this normal? Like different positions.

May i know if the price i paid is ok for the Zeiss lens? What is the Axis means?

Hi guys I am going to make another spare black army specs to use for sports running etc.

Those cheap matte black frames. Around 50 to 100.

However I want to change to transition lenses.

Can anyone teach me more about why type and brand of transition are there?

hmm actually latituded630 (the guy who post the pics) is quite smart to use the black cloth as a background to tilt the lenses against the light to let the colour of the coating stands out clearer. I think he knows what is needed to determine the authenticity.

If you compare the carl zeiss & hoya (both posted on the same page) you could see the colour difference. Sft coating is not the normal "green" which you usually see in other coatings. I still do not knoe what colour to call that.

Haha. Thanks for the compliments. The spectacles & lens knowledge that I have gained, are from this thread. I have gone through all the pages of this thread before going to the spectacle shops. Even the salesmen said that I am asking too much stuff, when I posed some deeper questions.
There are many helpful experts who shared their knowledge with us. I hope that more hwz people would go through all the pages of this thread, before posing some repeated questions.

To give credit on my knowledge of sft coating :

the 4kg pressure test is just joking.

Seriuosly sft coating is v easy to tell just from its appearance & color, unlike normal kind of lens coating. Even nikon seemax coating has the same kind of cheap look as normal lens.

HOYA sft coating presents itself in a richer color tone. Even HVP coating color appearance doesnt have this kind of premium color look.

HOYA sft base color looks like green, but with an additional tint of yellow or dunnoe watever kind of color i just cant describe, it just looks damn diff. That is why its now my prime choice of lens.

To add to my qns, i found 2 small black dots on my lens (see circled image).
Cant clean off with the Zeiss cloth. It kind of looks like marker mark. Dunno what is it and why is there such mark?
