Is it a norm be disconnected when tethering?
Can anyone help please :(

I am not sure about tethering from phone to pc. But I tried it from phone to tablet.

According to my experiences, disconnection happens at places where network is bad or peak period i.e. when travelling on bus or train. Either your telco network sucks at that place or too many people hogging bandwith at same place and time.

Using data at my home area can be as fast as 7 - 10mb/s, and at my work area (CBD) can be as slow as <1mb/s. :D

Yup I do that to my tablet too.

Basically you have answered teh mei's query, but just in case her query is abit unconventional, I would like to add that

If she means disconnection as in having your phone on wifi yet you wanna tether that wifi signal to your other device, then YES, it will disconnect.

The phone can only be its own hotspot towards other devices; it can't act as a medium. Once you switch to tether mode, the phone disconnects from your wifi and uses its own data and thus will data its mobile data to your paired device.

So if happens that you are in office where your phone is connected to office wifi with password yet your other device isn't, you can forget about trying to tether it to your said device.

Pluck up the courage and go ask your HR for the password XD

Brother, you are wrong as not many are as rich to change phone less than a year or after 1 year.

Do remember that some of them are tied down by the Telco contract for up to 2 years and even after the contract ends, he or she might want to change phone so it is up to individual and it might not applies to majority.

I agree. Not many are as rich as carlover =X
