means i can just buy this and installed in my bro's HP notebook and installed intel drivers then good to go!?
wait, u mean when replacing the wifi card, the bios will have to be flashed?
The thing is I don't know if your laptop model's BIOS have a whitelist.wait, u mean when replacing the wifi card, the bios will have to be flashed?
Depending on brands, OEM laptops say from lenovo, and ESPECIALLY hp usually have a bios list of acceptable hardwarewait, u mean when replacing the wifi card, the bios will have to be flashed?
The thing is I don't know if your laptop model's BIOS have a whitelist.
If it has and it doesn't recognise the card it will refuse to post you will see error message during booting.
Put back the original card and it will work again.
If that happens you have to find some BIOS hackers to modify the BIOS to remove the whitelist and flash the BIOS so it can boot properly.
One reason why I hate HP and Lenovo.
Your call.
Can I add a second WiFi antenna to the A1 to improve reception?
Yes, some A1 users have bought a second antenna but check first if your A1 has a second port for it, as some A1s do not have it. You can check by unscrewing the HD panel.
If you have the second port, you can buy an antenna like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
http://www.oxfordtec.com/us/p120/Lap...duct_info.html
To install it, remove the HD drive, screw it it and route it towards the speakers.
whitelist means the network card has been hardcoded into the bios thus making hardware changes impossible unless you flash it?
this was what was posted over at the notebookreview forum
i have an acer 4740G using Intel Wifi 5300 with 3 antenna...can change to this?
