Let's compare our annual dividends in 2012

Seeing that there is a thread for income comparison.

I created this thread for dividend investors.

Btw, this is the very first time I started a thread. :D

I am getting around $8.6k dividends in 2012.

If my holdings stay the same, I will be getting around $9.7k next year. :s12:

Wah... How you hunt one? Got a website stating the company average dividend over the average stock price?

Just a question for dividend investors. Do you guys take into account of the capital gain/loss? As in if the capital loss is huge do you guys continue holding it?

Yes. 50k p.a. is a good challenge indeed.

Bro, just wanted to ask, say you do get 50k p.a. from dividends. Will that be taxable? I know dividends dont have to declare to IRAS and are usually not taxable, but what about if they're above 20k? Or what if they're your primary means of income? Say when you've retired. IRAS rules like not very clear. :s11:

1) Capital gain for me is a bonus. What I want is a steady stream of dividends. :)

2) It depends on the reason why the stock is diving. If the problem is fundamental, then sell.

If you are a retail investor, I dun think you will be taxed even at 50k p.a.

However, if you are the CEO of Starhub for example and you have lots of Starhub shares. Then maybe the case is different.

Well, I dun really worry about this because I dun think I will reach 20k p.a. dividends any time soon. :s13:
