Those using the 3rd party one, mind sharing if the base of the connector is bigger than the original one? I afraid tat it would fit most of the cases. as the cutout at the port is only slightly bigger than the original one.

There're few type of oem available in thearket but cannot confirm. Saw ppl posting oem looking the same as the org one. The one with charging indicator is slightly bigger or I should say it squarish not rounded like the org at the lightning connector part. Some cases will not fit nicely need some work as it cannot plug in fully.

Mine is squarish type (w LED), the connector housing is slightly bigger than stock Lightning Cable but stil fit well w my case.

First time used it with Female to Male USB extension cable 1M, my iPhone prompted "The accessory you are using not supported" then unplugged it, bypass the USB extension cable, plugged direct to iPhone it work again, re-try plugged it in the USB extension cable viola since then it works without any prob but the charging duration is longer than usual. Using stock cable w USB extension cable charging time not affected. Just sharing my experience. :)

so are the generic oem 3rd party cables at Qoo10 or ebay okay to use now?

Might be the same quality. But I still prefer to go to shop and buy. Can test first before pay money. Qoo10 if they give spoilt item also can complain but freezing the payment.

I look at those sellers in Qoo10, they will indicate "Works on ios 6.0.1".

What if one day the firmware got updated and the OEM cable doesn't work????

I wonder.............................

Ya lo, i doubt apple so daring to make statement tat it only gives authorised 3rd party maker to produce lightning cable. not sure if the V-chip is working the same as original or juz producing a simulated signal.
