Taiwan is not expensive. If you do not buy expensive stuff and eat restaurant occasionally, $500 per person is more than enough for food and transportation, excluding accommodation, for up to 10 days.

good enough i think, esp for buibui like me. but have seen locals wearing 3 layers or winter-like outer clothing

Ah, then I'll just bring sweater/windbreaker. Worst case buy there then. Thanks! :D

Yeah bro agreed, what I basically have said before a few posts ago. $1000 is too much for an EIGHT days trip. (To visitors going soon, if you wanna get branded you definitely need more).

Well, kinda late to only start looking for them now..Somemore holiday period with xmas and new year in the week..

You best bet is to look for those less known hotels..

Yeh my trip in mid Jan to mid Feb, hotels booked 2 months back. Lol, book earlier people!

TRA tickets

May I know if I need to book TRA tickets in advance if I'm travelling from Taichung TRA to Xinwuri TRA on a Saturday (5 Jan 2013) morning? Or can I just buy directly on the day itself at the station counter?

buy on the spot. for short distance,ticket is always available

My alishan minsu book in mid aug..Just recently booked rooms from cityinn iii since they open up 3 months in advance..

Trip only happening in mid mar.. :s13:
