Any idea on where to buy RAM for my X61? And how much is 4G RAM for X61?

2x2GB i think if you buy new from SLS will cost you about $90.

If 1x4GB, it is going to be very expensive if you can find it.

Hi. My friend has a Thinkpad X61 (7674-GK1)laptop on Vista and wants to upgrade to Win 7. Unfortunately, we cannot find the drivers on Lenovodrivers and support website.
Could you help to suggest where else we can find the drivers today or which is the correct page on Lenovo web we should look at?

Select X61. Machine type all. You should see the drivers for Win 7 inside.

Alternatively, the easier way is to download "System Update" from Lenovo and let it auto detect all the drivers for you and install them automatically.

I ordered a thinkpad laptop from Lenovo us website and made payment via Amazon account. However, I got an email saying that:

Your order from Lenovo, number 424***641, has been cancelled. We were not able to complete the transaction with the credit card information you supplied. If you have further questions, please call Credit Card Services at 800-426-3325.

Anybody know what is wrong?
Actually I've used my DBS credit card many times on the Amazon website without any problem.

Define slow. And what apps have you installed? Which OS was preinstalled?

Technically, if you are running it with Windows 8 (factroey clone), it should not take more than 30 seconds to boot.

Did you make sure that the address you have on your Amazon account is set to the one from Borderlinx, vpost or comgateway? Are you using a debit card?

Before you format, pls install this and get your Win 8 Key. Else, you will not be able to obtain it via Win 7. Also you will need to go into Bios and turn-off UEFI-mode.

Nothing. Everything is preloaded.

My 5-yr old IBM Thinkpad T43 cannot power on (plugged into wall power socket). I thought the adaptor is spoilt. Bought a new power adaptor but still cannot power on. The battery is not being charged at all. Where I can get it checked to see what is wrong?

Yup. But your warranty likely expired already right? Do you mean that the ThinkPad cannot be turned on or can be turned on but battery does not charge?
If the former then the repair cost would be quite high since it sounds like a motherboard problem.

Thinkpad can turn on if running on battery alone but if battery is flat and I plug into wall via adaptor, the battery is not charging and thinkpad cannot turn on.

Yesterday, it was halfway charging the battery, then got beep beep sound and it stopped charging. So I thought the adaptor is spoilt. I bought new adaptor and still the same problem.

If I remove the battery and only plug into wall, the laptop also cannot turn on. So either new adaptor also spoilt (so unlucky?) or got some power connection problem?

Nothing. Everything is preloaded.

Something is weird somewhere. Preload clones should give you a boot time of under 45seconds. Boot time does not means that you can use the system, it just mean that your system reaches the Win 7 log in screen.

Sounds like a motherboard problem. You can try to bring it in and have the technician take a look at it, but this will cost you $60 - 70. Alternatively I've seen some shops in Sim Lim doing laptop repairs, so no harm checking it out too. 5 years is very good ROI, its just a pity since all the other parts are still functioning.

Did you receive an email from Amazon stating that the order was cancelled because the product was not available? I also bought one over the weekend and just got this message too...maybe it's because it's my second purchase.

I got an email alert from Amazon too, but it's my first purchase.
I asked other guys, they said Lenovo will check your address, if it is an address of a warehouse rather than a private address, they will cancel your order. They will check if your address has a customer number. If it has a customer number, your order will be cancelled.
