Recommend GFX for 2560X1440 resolution

As per my title, I would like to hear from forumers on the best bang for buck card to support for this native resolution.

I currently am using a FSP 550w PSU, so I hope the new card does not require me to change my current PSU as well.

At that resolution I am pretty sure a bare minimum is a 7970 or GTX 670. There's no cheap way to do 2560x1440 if you want to at least have above 30 fps.

Oh yeah he didn't say if it was for gaming or not. If not for gaming then I think any GFX will suffice.

best bang for buck for me is always ~$150 gfx...

2560 by 1440 is no joke in terms of GPU requirement.. just read any reviews of games and the FPS drops a lot from 1920/1080 to 2560/1440 on the same settings... so if u got such a high res monitor you should try to match it was at least a 670.

Any reason why Sapphire 7970 and not the rest of the non-ref cards? How about an option from the green camp then?

Just get the cheapest 670 available. They're most likely reference cards.

I got the GTX 670 to run my 2560 x 1600.

Palit Jetstream cause it was cheaper and I don't expect to use it for >2 years (2 year warranty is the caveat). Also, this forum isn't too fond of Palit. Heh

No worries, my first card was a Palit too. The shorter warranty certainly warrants a lower price; makes sense. Twin Frozrs and Direct CUs are solid no doubt.

Great! Although games may run at a lower FPS and it's not really 'futureproofing (subjective)'

After some reading, I'm somewhat leaning more towards the green camp though. Word has it their cards are more efficient.
