PSU/GPU issue?

Hi all,

Recently my computer had issues booting so I went to troubleshoot by swapping the Radeon 5850 with a spare Geforce 6600. Managed to boot properly after swapping cards but what puzzles me is that the system used to be able to run stable with the 5850 for around 3 years (no random bsod, lines across screen etc)

My question is now if there is any way to check if its either the PSU or GPU giving me problems, working with a tight budget now so I can only replace one or the other.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. Im still looking for a spare PSU so that I can try if my PSU should be replaced.

Can you elaborate on how your PC behaves when booting? No signal after windows logo/loading but works well in safemode/vgamode? It may also be a driver problem. Try reinstalling driver or installing other versions older/newer.

PC doesn't boot at all, no options to enter bios or whatsoever so I'm thinking its more of a PSU problem over the possibility of a GPU problem yeah.
