PC Hang at startup. Please help

I stay near sls. I can go buy a new hdd & ssd + Win 7 OS like wat u suggested. Do u think my current rig can support tat? Or just buy a new hdd & Win 7 OS.?

ur rig's spec is on the right? if yes, ur mobo can support up to SATA 3Gb/s only, but dun worry u can still buy a SATA 6 Gb/s SSD and put it in w/o any problem. just that u dun get the full speed of 6Gb/s SSD nia. but still worth getting, u will still see a huge improvement over hdd.

if ur budget is tight get plextor M5S 128GB $139, otherwise i highly suggest samsung 840 120GB $169.

CPU/ Ram/ HDD issue will casue system hang even inside bios setting...

TS kindly check your ram and HDD first.

I can go bios settings n check, it nevr hang. Once i exit, it starts and hang while the windows logo is seen. Thks

Plextor MSP Pro more worth it compare to M5S. Some shop give discount.

You need to check on your HDD and Ram..

if you have another pc or laptop to create a bootable cd or bootable usb thumbdrive which includes many tools and utilities, then you can make one to test your hdd first .


Hiren's BootCD, Ultimate Boot CD, etc !

if u can get into BIOS w/o any problem then its not ur RAM and highly possible is just the HDD.

If yes put your HDD into other PC and run HDtune to scan bad sector

Download seagate tools

enter DOS mode run Seagate tools and scan for bad sector.

Plextor M5P: Ard $150++
HDD ~ 1TB: Ard $80++
Win 7 OS: $120 and below

SO total i need around $350 +/- a few dollars.

Just try and download hiren boot cd and see whether you can repair the windows os first bah.

Your bios can detect the hdd, so its not considered fully dead yet.

Now there's another prob. The screen shows up whenever i turn on the pc:




I go bios set up the clock, then start pc. The pc hangs at the windows logo. Then i turn off n turn on again, i see this msg. Does tis means my motherboard also going to spoil?? Thks

I just downloaded the Hiren's bootble CD and burn the image to a blank cd. I will try in awhile

It just means that the mobo battery is dead.
