my phenom 2 still going strong. dont intend to upgrade til next year because it is still acceptable for me.
All depends on your usage. If its just for light gaming and browsing/watch videos/simple tasks etc it should still last for awhile.

Still using x4 925 and HD 6850 (performs similar to gtx 460 from what I've heard). I don't plan to upgrade anytime soon as it is still sufficient for my needs, plus I'm going NS this year..so,yeah. If you got spare cash and want more performance I'd buy a SSD if you haven't got one.

amd phenom ii quads are still relevant in today's gaming context

upgrade your graphics card and if need be, power supply unit and it should extend your pc life for a little bit longer :)

Can upgrade to SSD for now. Will have a more noticeable improvement, I believe.

same rig set up! loving the phenom 2 still. Yeah, i think SSD would be nice!

My dad got a AMD Athlonx2 6000+ and i felt it's not very good CPU, temperature hitting close to 80 degree when watching video playback even with graphic card. Nevertheless it is still working after 4.5 yrs, changed one motherboard already, yeah luckily managed to find.

Upgrade to a 64GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD and it is still good enough for my dad daily usage.

I see, I'm also considering SSD. Previously I was using an AMD athlon x2 7750BE and gts 250. Didn't felt the need to upgrade until I find playing sim city social too taxing already. Hahahaha. Previous rig was working for 5 years at least lol

dude if ur cpu temp hits 80 means its time to re-apply thermal paste or ur HSF did not seat properly. simple thing...

First things first, you know your windows 7 boot up screen where the 4 colours comes together in the middle? Even before the 4 colours can come together, you are inside your desktop already. Hahaha!

When you open a document or any other files or programs, its like instantly!

But that's only for boot up, and for the programs to start that fast, they must be on the ssd right?

Yup yup, i think now recommended get at least a 120gb ssd? So you can maybe partition it like 40gb for Windows and 80gb for your programs and games. Actually your preference ah. Your music/movies/etc can keep inside your HDD.

Wah bro, your spare rig also got ssd ah? hahaha

Are they obsolete?

Thinking whether or not to upgrade.

I am thinking of whether to upgrade as well; partly because I see that now Intel has a much wider range of motherboard bundles to choose from when compared to that of AMD (Recent pricelists from Fuwell, PC Themes and TradePac).

But like some here have said, if your gfx and cpu are functioning well atm and your needs have not changed much, stick with your current build.

yeah true also, so many different variety from intel. I heard from one uncle in simlim that its not they not selling some variety of AMD boards, they still do. Just gotta ask and tell them what you want, they will get it for you haha.

For those who gonna upgrade, just tahan till haswell is out. Anything can happen
