I need some advice here. I'm planning to study overseas but I still haven't heard from them. At the same time I am offered admissions into nus and as you know the deadline of acceptance is 2jun. Should I accept nus? Is it possible to reject nus offer after 2 June after accepting initially? :|
Sorry if this sounds confusing.

nice to hear u go NBS. can I ask why you choose SMU econs? Why never choose SMU business instead? because my case I choose NTU econs and SMU business as my first choice, right now thinking which is the best among the 2 decent choices. Is it because SMU econs got something special that is why you choose in SMU?

I believe that you can still reject after 2nd june. They cant force you to come to school right? haha. but be prepared to be blacklisted if you do it. I believe its highly likely that the act is very much frowned upon.

I got my offer from NTU in MEng in EEE.

In my offer letter it is mentioned that

Degree Candidature:

You will matriculate and commence as Research Students in the first instance. Subsequently, you will be required to pass the confirmation exercise(CE)/Qualifying Examination(QE) in order to be confirmed as a Master’s candidate, you will be expected to complete the requirements leading to a Master’s degree. However, if you fail to be confirmed as a Master’s candidate, you will be required to withdraw from the programme.

I have some doubts regarding this

1. Should I have to give a qualifying examination/confirmation examination to be qualified as master's candidate after one year?

2. Am I not selected as Master's candidate?

3.What is Qualifying examination?

4.In case if I will fail to be confirmed as a master's candidate, what I will be left with(can continue for master degree)?

5. So overall how many years it will take to complete the master's degree? (As the duration of course is mentioned as 3 years on the offer letter and in NTU website it is mentioned as minimum 1 year and maximum 3 years).

Can anyone just help me out...

This is definitely not the place to ask this. This is the undergraduate section. The post-graduate has their own section. Please direct your queries there.

My application for SMU is still processing but the dateline for acceptance for NUS/NTU is 2nd June. Ultimately I prefer SMU but if I accept NUS, will SMU auto reject me? But if I don't accept first, I'll be left with nothing. Can anyone give some advice on this?

Accept. I clarified with SMU and they said if we are eligible, offer will still be given to us. What's your NUS course?

Hey I have seen your grades and apparently you obtained one E grade? That is probably why you have not received an offer for NTU. And no, my friend got in through the normal way, most probably not through NAA, because she did not go through any interviews, nor was made to send in any supporting documents for NAA. There you go. She herself is also really thankful that she got in.

yeah but there is not much difference having an E and a D(your friend) grade right? and moreover i have one A so by right my chances are higher? but i still got rejected and your friend got in? =/

Nobody knows exactly how the admissions office decide who gets in or who gets rejected. For all we know, a D could be like a minimum grade to them so getting an E could warrant the rejection. Look at it this way, you may get AAS and still get rejected and someone getting DDD could get accepted. Why? Because an S is the 'official' failing grade and hence make the cert incomplete. However, NTU might not adhere to this and instead choose an E to be the failing grade since not many people get an S anyways.

I just submit the appeal for ntu and i still have not received any outcome..
Because NTU say..

Applicants may appeal online if they have not received an outcome by end May 2013. However, if they missed the online appeal period which is from 15 May to 2 June 2013, they may write in to appeal via email, post or fax.

So i just submit the appeal..
But like this am I still have chance to get the offer of my first apply?(which is the 5 choice we choose in application)

Still got chance, but likely to be quite slim unless you went for the interview recently.

A brief answer for you, haha. Because i firmly believe that in terms of Business School, NTU > NUS > SMU.

But in terms of Economics. SMU>NUS>NTU.

=)
Yup, if you want more details, tell me. =)
