Actually I find sami theory too brief. Jus based on his notes, it's not good enough for exams. U need to read up the textbook and past yr papers for the theory portion to be able to achieve and write exam standard answers.

have u try Chow Kim Tai ? how is his teaching ?

for me he is quite gd ba. cos i failed f9 in jun sitting when i took another lectuerer. focus too much on calculations nv bothered abt theory and failed badly. so dec sitting i read through the text bk to get the gist of it. lectuerer is impt but u have to abit more proactive as well ba haha

F5, P1, P2 or P3

Hi,

I left F5 P1 P2 and P3. I just completed F7 and F8 togther on June'2013 exams.

I thought of taking F5 and P 2 together becoz F7 is still fresh for P2. and also take F5 now would be useful for next sem's P3. However LSBF Sammi lesson is on Thurs and F5 Roy's lesson is on Wed, so quite tiring. But P2 Roy lesson is on Tuesday.

Is there any other combination recommended or should i select P2 as roy ?

yes sami is gd in both theory and calculations
Sami is only good in calculations thats all. His theory is not good. People normally took his class for F7 and F9 because it is calculation intensive. And most of them passed! However if you are going to take P2 and P4 where the theory can make or break you, that's where you see that Sami's shortcoming. If you are taking P2 and P4 under Sami, either you do lots of self-study for the theory or you must be good in knowing what to write. Another problem with Sami's lesson is for P2 and P4, he teaches lots of calculations for his normal class. But when it comes to revision class, he will put more time for theory. I took all his papers before fyi.

hi! for everyone out there, which papers should I take from the optional modules? I want to enter audit in the future, but I don't know if it is essential to take P7.

And what is the difficulty level and challenges faced when you are studying for, say, a P4 paper?

Thanks in advance!

I took his F7, F9 and the recent P2 and I agree that he is good at both F papers where calculation are very intensive. However when it comes to P2, he did go through some basic theory for each individual FRS but lack the practice and example. Majority of his classes (at least 90%) will be calculation.

If you browse through the past yr papers. P2 calculation only makes up on average of 35 marks (question 1 part a), the rest 65 marks are all theory and applying FRS concept. You just look at the suggested answers, all full of text on discussion of application for each case study and none on calculation.

I am intending to take P3 and P4 next sem, any recommendation? :s12:

If you take Sami P2 just make sure you read up alot on the FRS and go through the past yr paper for the feel of the theory questions the examiner will ask. No idea on Roy's style, not sure if he focus more on theory.... :s12:

Heard he's ok. I would still recommend sami for f9 but better u read up alot on the theory portion on ur own also. The weightage of theory n calculation is 50/50 roughly but recently seems like theory slightly more weightage.

I think Sami is ok for F papers since they are still very much calculative. The theory in F9 are also quite management as long as you attend the class, quite straight forward.

Anyway, any recommendation for P3 and P4? :s12::s12::s12:

Yah, I heard about him too but what about Andy from Kaplan?

And P4? I know there is always Sami for P4 but judging from the amount of theory from P2... I have some reserve on Sami. Then again, I am not sure is there "better" tutor at both calculation (which Sami is best at) and theory.
